well good on her. She took some initiative and took a chance that human kindness (with maybe a dash of corporate self promotion) would save the day. May this keep the date at which her childlike innocence dies the death of a thousand adult realities at bay.

If it really was a 3 mobile horse it would take 20 minutes to break into a canter. And if you want to get off early, no way. It's headed straight to Bangalore, and it can't understand your instructions.

So her parents decided to buy her a horse for $3000 and pay $450/month in stable fees?

With her dad working as a "plasterer" and her mom not working?

I call:

1) This kid having to take out loads of money to go to college
2) They sell the horse within 2 years

Dude, it's worse than that. Read the article. They bought two horses for $100k, the stable fees are $15k/yr, and plasterers only make $20k/yr.

hahahahaha thats a good joke....

"The couple, who also have a son, Billy, four, spent £1700 for Lily as well as £60 a week to keep her in stables near the family home in Romford, Essex."
dude where dose a four year old get that much cash?
But wait apparently the 4 yearold pimp has more $ than the company...
"The mobile phone company agreed, volunteering the £1000 stable fee for Bertie, enough to keep him there for a year."
dude... wtf....typo/idiot

and that last paragraph is kinda out of place... i assume its from the company but this is an odd stupid story

Dude, read the article. They bought one pregnant horse for 1700 GBP. The stable fees for the mother are 3120 GBP per year.

Stable fees for the pony apparently are 1000 GBP per year.

I think it's a sweet story, PR-induced or not. They made one little girl very happy, anyway.

As far as the pregnant horse, I hope they got her checked out by a vet before they bought her. Even if they did, it's possible that the pregnancy went unnoticed. I can think of a couple of cases where a female racehorse went into labor unexpectedly while just before or after race time. Even the expert track vets can't tell sometimes.

That's retarded, it doesn't look nearly identical to the company's logo, it just looks like the numeral symbol "3"

It doesn't resemble the company's logo any more than it might resemble any other typical graphic depiction of the numeral symbol.

jfsimpson: So her parents decided to buy her a horse for $3000 and pay $450/month in stable fees?

More like $2000 for the horse and $100 per month for the stable...

With her dad working as a "plasterer" and her mom not working?
Plastering is a skilled job that pays well in the UK - its the stuff they used to put on walls before drywall became the lazy way out.

I call:

1) This kid having to take out loads of money to go to college
2) They sell the horse within 2 years

DURRRRRRR

In the UK you get a student grant and loan from the government, much much cheaper than in the US.

... but they might sell the horse...

Looks more like that to me, and so the horse jihad begins.

http://www.harpers.org/archive/2006/03/0080952

From a September interview with Rashad Akhtar, a twenty-seven-year-old British Muslim, who alleges that the graphic used on the lid of Burger King ice-cream cones resembles the Arabic spelling of "Allah." The interview was conducted by Davina Patel, a reporter for the London newspaper Eastern Eye. Burger King apologized and said they would redesign the lid.

"I feel humiliated. I want to humiliate the person who did this to an extent that he never works again. I'm going to make him see that it was the biggest mistake in his life. I want to meet the guy. I want to ask the guy, "What does this mean to you?" then never see his face again.

In a way, I'm glad he did this to me. It has opened my eyes. The fear of God, the love of God, the love of not letting anyone disrespect God. Even though it means nothing to some people and may mean nothing to some Muslims in this country, this is my jihad. I'm not going to rest until I find the person who is responsible. I'm going to bring this country down."

(awkward silence)

I didn't know she had a pony. How was I to know she had a pony? Who figures an immigrant's going to have a pony? Do you know what the odds are on that? I mean, in all the pictures I saw of immigrants on boats coming into New York harbor, I never saw one of them sitting on a pony. Why would anybody come here if they had a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? It doesn't make sense... am I wrong?
