(New Scientist)   If a cat were suddenly to grow to the size of a tiger, would he see people as potential food?   (newscientist.com) divider line 111

I actually thought about that before and now I'm going to go read the article.

Our local furniture warehouse likes to do these commercials with tigers and other big cats. Recently, they had some of the cats actually at the store, so we went to visit them and have our pix taken with the baby tigers.

When you look at a tiger, there's just no question in your mind that this thing could rips your arms out of your sockets without even raising a sweat. I think that it's for the best that domestic cats are well within the "I can push you around, little creature" range.

On the other hand, Ozymandias' gentically engineered Lynx (Watchmen) would be too, too cool.

That cat in Raleighs picture must eat all the time. I mean, every minute it is conscious.

...True story.... I've got a 6 pound tabby that chases and swipes at my 60 pound Boxer. My dog is terrified of the little puss. The cat is a little biatch too...bad kitty. Leave the damn dog alone!

If anyone from yesterday is still here, sorry for posting and disappearing. Our cable modem abruptly went out, apparently Comcast can't handle 7 inches of snow. BTW, Smokahontas, we have a distrust of Himalayans in common, but actually I'm a cat person. Cats are almost totally maintenance(sp?)-free. The perfect pet for a Farker. :)

How 'bout a 500 pound Ferret? That would be worse then a cat.

A 500lb Ferret would smell like a pile of walking dogshiat.

'Nuff said.

My cat's breath smells like cat food!

7forty7,

I have never laughed so hard in my life. Thank you.

I've been around cats literally all my life. When I was born, my family had already had a cat for three years. When I was about three myself, we got a puppy from some farmer in the area. Great dog, it was like a mini-collie mutt. So it bounds into the house playfully, sees the cat and kinda "jumps" at it. The cat responds by just smacking the shiat out of it, right on the nose. No claws, no blood, no real pain. Just the equivalent of a pimp-slap. That cat ruled.
