Are backdrops just not in vogue any more?

I have no idea what's going on.

Oh, the racism!

I thought Obama was going to fix all of this.

I will now cry myself to sleep tonight.

No, because the backdrop of the newsroom makes it feel like they're doing REAL IMPORTANT EXCITING WORK (tm).

Let's see, Intertubes says Fox 61 is Chattanooga. Makes sense.

Which also explains why there's no backdrop. The whole TV station probably fits in that room. They are 86th in DMA size.

Could be the Connecticut affiliate, too.

Actually, I'd expect the ABC, NBC and CBS stations to be there too, assuming that POS town rates 4 stations.

True, but I'm assuming the Subby had the state right. The first result was CT though. Also, I think a Hartford station would look better.

With "Towlie" on top of the desk, I can only assume it's Cartman in his Scary Ghost costume hiding beneath.

Years ago, we had a guy put on a gorilla mask and walk behind the guy doing a live shot in our office. But then, we work for a newspaper and the bosses only wanted to do the linkup with the TV station to show how "cutting edge" we were, so we didn't give a shiat.

For a moment there I was expecting a Christmas Poo.

Need to review my Southpark.

I love the story regarding the creation of Towlie. Matt and Trey tried to create the dumbest character possible as a response to Comedy Central's aggressive merchandising of every new character...and in spite of themselves, had another success.

What's really funny is I just moved to the Chattanooga area FROM Connecticut. So I went from one Fox 61 to another.

The Connecticut one is a lot better, though I will give the Chattanooga one props for being the first network in the area to do the DTV swtich.

At least they weren't playing solitaire on the computer like those CNN people do. Buncha slack magnets.

Okay, anyone see where the stuff is?

I can't see crap, only fuzzy, blurry white stuff on the desks.

Or is this like a Rorshach test?

"Racism! Oppression!"

Here's my utterly pointless story about Chattanooga:

When I was a kid living in one of those generic Great Lake states and every family with school age kids would pile the kids and do a drive to Florida & Disney World - sort of like "National Lampoon's Family Vacation"... Chattanooga was that first stop off the freeway where you knew you really left the North and were in a different culture.

Chatanooga had all these billboards and ads for Southern-Dixie civil war stuff. And instead of getting the usual Mickey Mouse ears hat that every kid gets, I begged and hollered at my parents for a gray southern reb cap (or kepi?). Inaccurately, it even had a patch of the southern dixie flag on the top of the cap. So, for the rest of the trip, a whole week and a half, I wore that cap nonstop and probably never took it off except for baths and the pool. All my photos at Disneyworld were of me with that darn cap.

/I miss that cap.
//End of pointless story

Maybe you understood, intuitively as a child, the true idea of freedom. That's what I got out of your story. Oh well.

Former weekend crew at a mid-market station. We refused to do that shot for news updates because it looked like ass with nobody in the newsroom. It was lit and had set pieces, so it looked great at 4:45pm Monday... just not so much at 9 on a Saturday night.

jonny_vegas: That's not real... right? If it is, I am SO watching UPN13 from now on.

If you look really close there's a copy of 'The Turner Diaries' on the desk in the left rear of the shot and if I'm not mistaken the girl on the right had thai food for lunch.

You're missing plenty of amazing stuff, scooter. Too bad your mom won't buy you a single month for five lousy bucks to find out.
