Just a guess, but I'd say Cuban probably doesn't want to risk a fine from the league for tampering, which would dwarf all of the many fines Cuban has already incurred in his illustrious tenure as owner.

Just a guess, but I'd say Cuban probably doesn't want an old and declining Shaq on his team eating up a huge chunk of cap space, especially since the Mavs essentially have no shot at the title this year.

That's what I was thinking. Shaq seems to be under the impression that he's 10 years younger than he really is.

I wish Sarver would have been that smart, Marion was and still is a better fit and player

Just a guess, but I'd say Cuban probably doesn't want to- aw, who am I kidding-- he'd love to have Shaq. No way in hell he'd trade any of our big guns for him, but it'd be fun if we could swing that.

Go Mavs!

Yeah, Shaq's having a terrible year.

Shaq comes off the books next year. He would just be taking the cap space that Kidd is currently holding. Because Kidd is goneeee.

And all of that good play got the Suns a trip to the lottery. That said, Cuban would love to have Shaq. He would have loved him even more 4 years ago when the Lakers traded him, but wasn't willing to give up Dirk to get him. I doubt he's changed his mind on that one and I have to wonder whether or not he'd be willing to pay Shaq's $20 million salary next season. But if he's going to be paying $20+ million for Dampier and Howard, might as well see what the Suns want for Shaq.

exick: And all of that good play got the Suns a trip to the lottery.

There was also the matter of losing Amare Stoudamire halfway through the season. And having Barbosa miss 10 of the last 15 games.

I'm guessing the Suns team will be blown up and rebuilt this off-season. I wish they would have made the playoffs, though they were essentially playing for a chance to lose to the Lakers in the first round. Congratulations to Dallas on their pending first-round exit.

Just a guess, but I'd say Cuban is not going to go around TELLING EVERYONE that he wants Shaq. That would just drive up the cost. He has to play hard to get.

It's a good thing you guys have a chick around to explain these things to you.

I've always loved him. Well. Except when he played for the Heat.

And all of that good play having to change coaches halfway through the season and losing their top scorer when he got his eye gouged out got the Suns a trip to the lottery.

The Suns had no chance anyway, but if they'd just played up-tempo all year and Amare was healthy, I think they'd have two or three more wins than they do now. Shaq's fat and overpaid, but he wasn't their biggest problem.

I dont know if Shaq is the answer, but it is certainly better than what we have now. At least for a VERY short term.

Hey, Mavs fans:

As a Suns fan, I know I'd be thrilled to see Shaq gone at the first opportunity - he's great, but he just doesn't work well here. Oddly, though, I get the feeling all of you guys feel the same about Damp. So my question, is what's wrong with Damp?

He's not very good at basketball.

Past few games, he's been playing just fine. He's just inconsistent.

A few games does not a statistically relevant sample size make. See his last few years and you get a better idea.

Noooooooooo I wasn't trying to say that at all. I was just saying that the past few games, he's been playing well.

And I don't know what's gotten into the Mavs the past few games, BUT I LIKE IT! 140 & 130 against decent teams? Yes please moar OKTHX

I lived in DFW for 6 years before I knew we had an NBA franchise.

I also like the Blazers. They aight.

I met Eric Dampier once. He wanted to have sex with one of the women I was at Ghost Bar with. He asked me if he could come stay at my apartment to get with her, and gave me his cell phone number. I told him no, because none of my furniture is Dampier-sized.

Later on that week, my friend found his number and started harassing Damp about how he lost his job to Diop via text message.

...so I've got that going for me.

If the Suns were smart, they would have Kept Joe Johnson, Rajon Rondo, Rudy Fernandez, Luol Deng, Shawn Marion, Kurt Thomas, Raja Bell, Boris Diaw, and Mike D'Antoni.

Think about it.

Wrong thread, but I GUESS it's appropriate to Shaq. He's only getting older, and he's still fat and slow, and whines a lot, and flops and dives and tells younger players to get off of his lawn.

I love Cuban. He's crazy, but I think he's making the write call here.

Shaq killed the Suns. I don't know why they made that trade.

If Cuban was to go after a Suns player, to be honest, I'd rather have Barbosa. But that's, of course, just me.

Shaq is only good when he is motivated. Paying him big bucks right now is a really bad idea. Trade him to Toronto. That would be hilarious!
