(Entertainment Weekly)   NBC picks up Law and Order: SVU for another season. How many possible stories about rape, torture, and exploitation do they have anyway?   (ausiellofiles.ew.com) divider line 57

Sounds like subby is mad the writers keep stealing his weekend "date" plans.

2009-04-03 08:06:43 PM
I assume they have about 40 pounds worth.

2009-04-03 08:11:16 PM
They like rape.

2009-04-03 08:16:32 PM
I always thought they should rename it: Law & Order: Semen on the Sheets.

2009-04-03 08:50:06 PM
they jumped it years ago. Watch the old episodes then watch a new one. Not even close in quality.

2009-04-03 09:08:40 PM
as long as mariska hargitay is still on the show - i'll be watching!

2009-04-04 01:16:59 AM
This is good news. However I heard that Hargitay and Meloni might be 'tough' to stay on board. They leave, the show dies. At least I won't watch anyway.

ToxicMunkee: I always thought they should rename it: Law & Order: Semen on the Sheets.

The one I hear suggested was Law & Order: This Baby's Been Raped!

I still watch the show, I've probably seen every episode. I can't say I'm super into it, but it is usually amusing, especially Belzer!

2009-04-04 01:20:47 AM
you remember how for the first season or two ST:TNG copied several plots from ST:TOS? It's like that. Law And Order:SVU just has to bring out the tar monster, or the virus that makes everyone have sex with each other. That's two or three seasons more right there.

2009-04-04 01:21:08 AM
Need more traps.

2009-04-04 01:21:17 AM
came for the Mariska Hargitay comment, was not disappointed.

I agree.

They still need to do the "The Aristocrats" episode...

/or have they already covered that one?

2009-04-04 01:43:00 AM
One of the worst shows on television. Each episode tries to sink lower than the one before it.

"How can we make a rape and murder even more farked up?"

So does this mean we can look forward to Ice-T getting assimilated and Kim Greylek dating a Klingon?

2009-04-04 02:03:21 AM
I'll watch it if only for Belzer.

/Still a huge fan of the original L&O

Jesus. SpikeTV is pretty much unwatchable with all this CSI crap being the only show that's on all the time. Now there's some La 'Norder bullshiat crapping up regular TV? How about Ice-T goes and tittyfarks his weird looking wife and the rest of the cast go get other jobs?

2009-04-04 02:17:24 AM
Mariska Hargitay. Mariska Hargitay. Mariska Hargitay.

I just like saying her name. Probably won't watch if she goes.

2009-04-04 02:20:47 AM
Sadly subby the miscreants that populate this planet will always provide more storylines for SVU.

Oh, so it's basically just like real life then?

2009-04-04 02:24:14 AM
It's better than another reality show, at least

2009-04-04 02:24:29 AM
And the chances of third season of "Life" get even slimmer.

It's a good thing you said Belzer, because John Munch from Homicide is dead and buried.

Instead we have Sergeant John Munch--a neutered, broken down version of the original character.

/big fan of Homicide John Munch
//not so much L&O John Munch
///sometimes I wonder why they have him on the show

2009-04-04 02:26:52 AM
Well, since they say they base a lot of their stories off things that happen in real life, I am going to say that as long as screwed up things happen in real life they'll always have story ideas.

Age old story--Art imitating life, or life imitating art?

Who cares, keep Mariska and bring Ice T's wife on the show. We want Coco.

2009-04-04 04:29:29 AM
I like this show. I admit, it's partly because of the "gawking at a car wreck" aspect of some of the episodes. Even the supposedly hardcore Ice-T said some of the stories were farked-up beyond his own real-life experiences.

Ice-T kicked ass in the episode where Fin got shot, became a media hero, then was guilted into finishing an old case by someone who saw him in the news. Munch sucks these days because he's just not given enough to do.

If the two leads quit, I'd love it if SVU turned into "The Munch and Fin Hour," but I know it won't. They'll probably just hire two more leads and leave characters with potential in the background.

aiiee: they jumped it years ago. Watch the old episodes then watch a new one. Not even close in quality.

Jumped when they spiffed it up to be more "CSI"-like (flat screen TVs replace wipe boards and printed victim photos) and started giving assloads of screen time to personal-life story arcs. Who gives a rat's ass about Stabler's daughter's teen angst?

Confoundit: One of the worst shows on television. Each episode tries to sink lower than the one before it.

"How can we make a rape and murder even more farked up?"

In what way does "the stories make me uncomfortable" equate to a lack of quality? It once was a great show, in part because it didn't pull any punches, but if you'd rather watch friendlier procedurals in which victims are only brutally murdered and nothing "worse," feel free to follow David Caruso to Miami.

2009-04-04 05:34:14 AM
I watched it from the beginning because of Meloni and Belzer and kept watching it for Hargitay.

And that.

One of my favorite episodes is a Fin/Munch ep(Manhunt, Season 2). It's too bad they don't get too many good eps. I'd also like to see more BD Wong.

Necrosis: ToxicMunkee: I always thought they should rename it: Law & Order: Semen on the Sheets.

Or how about Law and Order: Olivia Benson Saves the World, since it's become nothing more than Mariska Hargitay's personal Emmy vehicle.

2009-04-04 08:31:51 AM
I pretty much only watch it now just to see how convoluted they can possibly make the storylines.

Plus, I like the ensemble cast.

2009-04-04 09:56:27 AM
I watch it for the recurrent character types

- The guy who can't stop loading/unloading crates from a truck while being questioned by homicide detectives

- The judge who allows everything

- The NYC bartender who remembers everybody who was in his bar on a Saturday night

Munch was on a talk show a few months ago and he said he caught a criminal while on the set of L&O, the guy turned the corner, surrendered, and set "oh shiat, its just munch!" and then the cops chasing him got there.

Or something like that.

+1, Fin, Munch, and Wong are my favorite characters. And they brought back the cool old ADA. I hate the "Stabler and his wife" episodes, but it is kinda funny to see his daughter farking up.

Wong is great, adn I know its intentional that the cops don't buy into any of his psychological voodoo, but it still pisses me off every time he tries to explain something and every cop in the joint goes crazy.
