Kpar90- Your observational skills are suspect, as illustrated by your religion/choice theory based on your personally casually observing a limited sample and applying you conclusions to the larger population.

Regardless of your lack of objectivity or lack of bias, this is a silly, silly way to draw conclusions about the world around you.

Ah, much digging (need to get a life myself) finds "hoise" in the 1913 Webster's Unabridged English dictionary, yet...

even there says "see 'hoist'", which, as in all other dictionaries searched online, is defined as a present tense transitive verb, with 'hoisted' being the past tense.

/now case closed... sheesh!

"Starfangled: The ill effect of a homosexual gene is that it makes you not want to have sex with the opposite sex, which is required for reproduction."

Once more: If the gene has no ill-effect on HETEROS that carry it then there's no reason for it to die out.

The gene may not even be a 'homosexual' gene. It could just cause a chemical imbalance that can result in homosexuality depending on other biological factors. For some it may just cause effeminism. For others, it may cause some feminine features - wide hips for instance. In extreme cases it could cause transexualism.

Kpar, there are men out there that like sucking dicks. Can you in your wildest imagination conceive of making that choice?? Wouldn't the most plausible explanation be that they're simply born different?

His signs said "God hates Gays," and "Thank God for 9-11."

Creepy.

Just in case you can't tell if you are gay or not, you can take the test. If the test determines you are indeed gay then your membership card will arrive within 3 weeks. As a free added bonus you will receive "the best of broadway" CD, including all the top show tunes you will need to memorize in order to maintain your membership status in good standing. Included in the liner notes is the short essay explaining exactly who Judy Garland is, and a handy color matching chart.

Starfangled: It has to be passed on before it can get to a heterosexual. While this can happen if it's a recessive gene, it seems to me that it would die out eventually, since the increased rate of homosexuality in a given lineage would reduce the number of times it was passed on.

Yes, it would be easy if I thought that men had to want to suck dicks. I could not imagine doing it myself. Unless it was my own. I could handle that, kind of like a dog licking his balls. That would be nice too.

...... is probably the same reason DannySpaz wanted to become a cop. He probably gets off at putting people in a defensive situation, only to have the "last word" option if he doesn't like what he has provoked them to say/do. Not to mention that he probably has the thought of what a good little boy he has been when he goes to bed.

lol. you gotta bring this personal? you telling me an honest, hard working cop is a bad thing? someone who respects people and wants to the best for humanity is a BAD thing? i'd write you personall but your email wasn't there so i had to post this publiclly.

anyways, if you put down someone who wants to help humanity that is up to you mate.

If that link does not work, just go to Merriam. I do not have an OED subscription (that is Oxford English, to you).

Wait, I need to get a life? You are the one spewing from an even less accurate book than the American Heritage.

You will see Hoist on that page. It is added as an overcorrection. Like when people say "David gave the Chick Tract to Jane and I."

I did make a note that you might actually do good on your day to day thing, but I was responding to why you might be inclined to post biblical references in a boobies forum, and that it might be the part of the same urge that leads you to help humanity by being a COP. There are many ways to do that. Help humanity that is. Like I said before, I am sure that you do help. I am glad that there are cops out there. Ones that don't get off on riling people up that is.

God just phoned in:

"I would just like to say that I am GREATLY disappointed with you all. Here I am providing you with a lesbian playmate, and all you can do is argue over my transcriptionist's lousy shorthand! See if I ever do you any favors again!"

P.S. Arguing over the English transalation of the German translation of the Latin translation of the Greek translation of the Hebrew work, which doesn't actually exist, but is in fact several differing Hebrew works from different eras and with (surprisingly) different stories seems a little silly now, doesn't it? Clearly Satan has been a work here distracting you all from boobies. Damn his black soul to ... oh, oh yeah.

"Starfangled: It has to be passed on before it can get to a heterosexual."

Kpar (if you're still here), let me put it another way. These are people that get boners from looking at naked guys. Boners. Do you choose what gives you a boner? Do naked guys give you a boner and you just choose not to do anything about it? Because honestly, the only people I can imagine thinking homosexuality is a choice are homosexuals that choose not to act on their urges.

I've been following your posts with some interest. I completely respect your opinion on the issue ("is being gay a choice or is it in the genes?") I readily admit that I'm not entirely sure which is fact, although at this point I do believe that I was born gay. Men are a very important part of my life, but I just can't get down and dirty with them. I've tried. Tis just the way the cookie crumbles ;) Some food for thought - it is quite possible for me to bear children without engaging in sexual intercourse with a male. Many lesbians in my community have done so, and will continue to do so. I intend to pass on my genes, whatever they may be, to my children - but I don't have to be heterosexual to do this.

Having said that, cheers buddy - long live boobies!

As was said, women are more physically attractive than men. But what the hell is attractive? I imagine a squirrel thinks a full bushy tail is attractive. The female body is more "attractive", but the female superiority ends there.

I don't think I've ever experienced so much hate in one place before in my life. But I would like to add one more thing, though it may have already been brought up, I couldn't read all of this. If one bases his or her entire life on the Bible, wouldn't one be able to justify slavery, spousal abuse, or if you're Catholic, the Crusades? In case you haven't noticed, it can be used for a lot of purposes.

On another note, I'm sure few of you really care about social construction or the fact that tons of the things we think are 'natural' are a result of our culture, but please think of all the Bible's been through to get here. Even if it was at some point THOUSANDS of years ago the word of God, it has been translated, retranslated, writen and rewriten THOUSANDS of times, almost ALWAYS by the faction in power, which has happened to generally be men, do you think that maybe, just maybe there are some major discrepencies?

Suffering exists because there is no higher being to prevent suffering from occuring. The only driving force in establishing a moral code is the one you put forth yourself. The argument going on here is not conducive to such a goal.

Obviously, if we're dealing with pious Christians, we're not going to get anywhere arguing. Their moral code is set out for them, and they have no choice but to accept it forthwith without questioning. Even moreso, dealing with pious atheists/agnostics/non-christians can be just as unproductive. I've seen this first hand on my college campus. A very abrasive Christian preacher came on campus. His goal seemed to lean more towards insulting my female friends than it did to actually converting people to Christianity. However, the gathered mob of angry students were no better, because they tossed water bottles at him and insulted him in the same way.

Part of establishing one's own moral code is being able to recognize patterns of negative behavior in yourself. You are the only person who is going to better your life experience, so start working on it.

Of course, we can draw the same comparisons from my analogy to this thread. Christians here continue to force their dogmatic beliefs on those who refuse to accept them, but non-Christians in this thread continue to sling mud right back.

I have to get this out of the way now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuality. This lifestyle does not harm me, and it does no harm to others, therefore I have no conceivable reason to detest it. Homosexual relationships boil down to a love between two people, and that is beautiful. To strike down any form of love is to do a great wrong against the human condition.

Because I want to keep this post as short as possible, I'll leave you with three simple precepts (that you may choose to accept or not), which I will render in a manner much like in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (quite the parable for the Buddhist experience)

1) Be excellent to yourself
2) Be excellent to others
3) Follow the (excellent) path to happiness

Zen, that's the most essentially Jesus-like statement I've read in months.

Nanookanano

Buddhism is a very pluralistic religion, and accepts all religions as valid. Historians have also documented similarities between Jesus and Buddha, the main difference being that Buddha never claimed to be God (or the son of God). That, and the fact that the Buddha stated that there was no higher deity ruling over us, makes Buddhism my religion of choice.

Thanks for the pat on the back!

I suspect that "son-o-god" stuff was attributed to him by Paul, Jesus' 'press agent'. I would more expect Jesus to respond that we are all children of god. But that's just my read of his character.

2003-02-05 11:45:44 PM
I, myself, can not conclude that there is no Supreme Being.
I have observed that no SB makes me stop sinning and do good. I have to do that by myself. And, that's some of what Jesus was trying to teach his students. He was a good man and a great teacher. That's enough to make me pay attention to his stuff.

Be well, my brother.

I suspect your read of Jesus' character would have turned Christianity into a much better religion, although I have met people who are willing to accept that view of Jesus, and find them to much more agreeable.

In any case, I respect your viewpoint and the candor with which you conduct yourself in these threads.

My 2 cents:
I call myself a heterosexual woman. I have messed around with other women and it sure was fun. When looking at porn, I prefer to watch 2 women or just look at magazines like Playboy. Women are sexier than men, period. That being said, I could never date a woman and here's why: a) from past experience (mine and other chicks I know) women are incredibly jealous, and b)I love men and their equipment way too much to give it up.
And, I don't think anyone chooses to be a homosexual. Why would anyone want to go through with the hate and all the negative elements that goes along with being in a same sex relationship?
As far as any sort of religious argument that homosexuality is a sin, that's bullshiat. If there is a god and if that god is a loving and forgiving god then homosexuality should not be an issue.
It has also been documented that some animals will form same sex bonds and engage in homosexual acts.
And if you have a problem with someone being gay, as long as they're not coming on to you why is it bothering you?

A good friend of mine "discovered" that he's gay about three years ago. He was drunk, at a party, did something that a straight guy would never do, and realized that he liked the idea even after he sobered up. Well, after a few months to make sure that it was the right thing and that he was really in the right lifestyle for him he tells me.

Jim is 6'4", muscular, and weighs about 325 pounds, I was like, "Good on ya, bro!"

All kidding aside though, it still amazes me when people find out that my friend Jim is homosexual. It never fails to be far more "okay" simply because he's big enough to stomp the hell outta damned near anyone that gives him any guff about it. I guess it's alright to be gay when your as big as an NFL linebacker.

"Jim's gay?!? No shiat?!? Well, not that there's anything bad about being gay..." *looks over the shoulder to see if Jim's around* "That's one big, scary gay man."
