Must have been a bold choice to finally get away from the geriatric crowd.

Do you figure that Charles Napier views that guest role in much the same way that Jane Fonda looks back at Barbarella?

Dear Subby:

Where have you been for the past 6 months of previews and so on, that you're just now finding this out?

Normally I don't find black women attractive but I'd like to (insert Star Trek referenced sexual inuendo here)

I have no intention of seeing them ovie.. I don't want a Kirk retread. Move forward, not backwards... that is why enterprise failed.

I like Pabst Blue Ribbon non-ironically and I plan to see this film. Does that make me a hipster or not? Difficulty: I'm 40.

I thought enterprise failed because 30% of the cast was uninteresting.

(I'm looking at you T'Pol and Merryweather!)

I think he works in Hollywood doing CGI. Probably has enough money to have my produce clerk ass and my family wiped from the record of history.

Yet I have never worn an imitation Star Trek uniform.

Oh, nerds and hipsters. There's interchangeable, really.

"Oh, em, gee. If everyone else likes something I like, that means it's not special and unique anymore."

FTFA: Star Trek Dance Parties?

"This week Paramount added a couple new facets to their marketing mix, Star Trek Photobooths and Star Trek Dance Parties."

Pud, it's too bad they didn't have photoshop back then. They could have removed that roll of flab from around his midsection.

Seriously, though, is anyone really excited about a new Star Trek movie? Sure, it's something to do for 90 minutes of your life but who cares about these characters anymore.

2009-03-28 08:19:22 PM
You have to love the new Enterprise. Looks like it was chopped and customized down at Julio's house of leopard pattern interiors.

There better be dingle balls on the bridge, that's all I've got to say.

The previews are excellent. Whether or not the movie is I dont know.

But the previews are so good that I really really want to see it, and I only watch anything Star Trek if there is nothing else on tv

2009-03-28 08:33:44 PM
Right.

That's lamer than liquor companies hiring models to go into trendy bars and overtly order their brands just like the actors in the commercials.

/thought that was a myth
//it isn't
///and it's really sad

There is a lot of hipster hate in the Showbiz tab this week.

Why? Because you're a racist prick? If he said skinny girls or blondes werent attractive to him, you'd have no problem with it, but skin color is off-limits?

You suck. Keep your opinions to yourself, libtard.

Everyone that's seen any bit of this movie (The 20 minutes, the cast/crew sneaks) is praising it to high heaven, much like Dark Knight was praised. The trailers are amazing. The US poster could have been better, but the overseas ones are fantastic. This movie got the most picky actor, Leonard Nimoy, to come out of retirement, something he's refused to do for other trek movies because of their script.

I'm probably the only one that thinks so, but looking at the competition this May...I think this is gonna be Iron Man big.

There is no such thing as a hipster crowd.

Newsflash: black women and white men are normally not attracted to one another. Film at 11.

I hate hipsters too (and trekkies are creepy), but I think this is actually smart on their part.

If they can convince those douchebags that Star Trek is nerdy such that being into it is 'ironic' (ugh...I hate this usage of that word) then it will open it up to a new demographic.

I find those people far more tolerable than the frat boy crowd.

I'm not a fan of Star Trek, but this looks good and I plan on seeing it with my Trekkie brother-in-law.

Aren't these two phrases the equivalent of matter and anti-matter?

Care about the characters, but can't really get excited about this movie, though.

WFern: I find those people far more tolerable than the frat boy crowd.

Hmmm...that's tough, but as someone who lives near a bunch of frat houses and hears them yelling (from the 8th floor) about nothing on the way back from the bars every second night I have to agree.

2009-03-28 09:34:51 PM
Those hipsters - always with the photobooths and dance parties.

Spoiler Warning

Why do they have to have a Romulan from the future? And Spock? Why couldn't it just be what Starfleet and the Federation were like early in the Star Trek timeline? Really. Why does time travel have to figure into it at all?

/ will still see it.
// on opening night.
/// yes I'm a consumer whore.

Not familiar with the franchise, are ya? :-) Off-hand, I can think of 5 good episodes that deal with time travel, and one and three quarters movies. (Not a big fan of First Contact, but it didn't suck like Generations.)

You might not know it to look at us now, lawntrespassingmitter, but in our day, we early Star Trek fans were pretty doggone hep.

Hepsters, yep, that was us.

/Don't like the word "hip," smacks of body-part replacement.
