FTFA: Joanne Culin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson, said the agency never likes to say with certainty whether damage is the result of a tornado or straight-line winds until a full assessment can be made.

Usually NWS confirms if there was a tornado or not a few days after the event, especially if there are no spotter confirmations. Considering the time this tornado might have hit, I doubt there are any actual eyewitnesses to seeing a funnel. We had a tornado "outbreak" here on Monday and NWS just confirmed there was five tornadoes that came from the same squall line. I believe three tornadoes dropped south of Lincoln (doing damage in Eagle) and two tornadoes hit north of Omaha near Missouri Valley.

There were about 15 people in the store when it hit. The manager was a hero. He managed to get everyone in the rear heavy freezer of the store and was shutting the door as the roof came off. . .

The freezer stayed put thank goodness. . .

Presumably they are assuming a typical 20% down payment and an average rate on a 30 year mortgage, though I'm just guessing.

My mother and a lot of other people I know lost EVERYTHING in Katrina and I still have to wade through the holier-than-thou bullshiat about that on here. Oooh...you're all SOO smart. You have all the answers. I hope a tornado comes and hits Assfaceburg, or wherever the fark you dickheads are from.

Fortunately Mississippi has some of the best response teams around that actually follow procedures before crying for federal help and throwing accusations of the not federal administration not caring.

Mississippi was ground zero for Katrina, but because our state and local leaders knew how to actually prepare and respond to emergencies, our blunders weren't made the centerpiece of national news. Like our governor says, an airliner landing as planned is not newsworthy, but if it crashes it's front page material.

my sister and her family had their house fall down around them this morning in Magee. Took an hour to get my brother out from under a wall (he was visiting), but luckily he is okay. Sister still in hospital from some internal bleeding. She covered her 5 month old with her body and let the debris fall down on her.

Nothing to laugh at here.
