who?

Well hell. I got a bunch of music from there. I suppose this means I can never listen to any of it again.

They obviously did not know how to strike a deal with fark to have an article greenlit everyday.

This is why, when Ruckus was still around, I first downloaded all the DRM-laced music files I could and then used DRM-stripping software to get music files I could actually use on my iPod. It was cumbersome, but in the end I downloaded the music for free - and legally - and got to use it however I wanted without worrying about Ruckus eventually shutting down...like it did not too long ago...

/DRM sucks, what else needs to be said?

If only all sites shut down due to sucking, vator.tv

Why does everyone hate vator.tv so bad? I'm curious. It just seems like a usual news site? Or was it because of the whole fark.tv fiasco?

Next thing you know, zombo.com will be shutting down - which is a damn shame, since anything is possible there.

vator tv used to heavily advertise on geek tab. Had customized fark banner at top, and banner below the banner. Then at right side of page had lots of ads, and even an advertisement video that automatically played when you viewed the page. I had to go out of my way and to manually block all vator ads since they were so annoying and intrusive. Which also led me to take time to block other ads at fark because I was so disappointed.

So when vator was advertising on geek tab, ~50% of the page was ads and you had to scroll down to see links. Also the fact that I wouldn't be surprised if fark was being paid to put these links up everyday, yet don't bother to use the "plug" tag anymore. Remember when fark used the plug tag when there were sponsored links? Now you don't know what links are paid for.

Not much ethics left when profit is #1 goal.

Not sure if you understand the "legality" of your situation quite accurately...

markie_farkie: who?

No, no, no, no. You're doing it wrong. You're only supposed to say "who?" when it's a popular/well-known something-or-other. That shows how hip you are, because you're not one of the mouth-breathing masses.

SpiralFrog was never popular. Which is too bad, because it was one of the better music sites out there. They had a lot of indie/alt-rock that you just couldn't find anywhere else. I was a member/customer from the beginning. I'm not sure where I'll get my digital music from now.

/And don't say "iTunes", because I'll feign ignorance.

amazon.com?

I might try it when they roll it out globally. Since I am not privileged enough to live in the USA.

/as long as it works on linux

adblock wasn't blocking vator ads on its own. I had to manually ad like 5 things to adblock to get rid of them.

Really? I never saw them, and I've been trolling Fark since the dawn of time. Adblock Plus' default list was working for me.
