She sure must be hearing a different drummer, because it's been way too warm here lately to even think about walking on pond ice.

When I was an undergraduate, I convinced a group of overly cerebral English majors that "Henry David Thoreau" was simply one of Emerson's several pen names. I used the words "obviously" and "as everyone knows" a lot during my explanation. The day the class discussed "Walden," I had to leave because I was laughing so hard.

By definition, puns require wit.

/Oscar Wilde would have answered you with a more scathing reply.

Freud suggested that puns were the lowest form of wit.

But then again, Freud was a Freudian, so take that as you will.

Amazing. I do love puns when they're well-crafted.

It seems that with 2009, Fark has turned into bad pun central.

Too many punny headlines these days. They are twice as annoying as they are clever.

Jumping on the "praise Subby" bandwagon... that's one of the very, very few shirt-worthy headlines I've seen here lately. Nicely played.

Nice one Subby - I'm smiling with smug, self-satisfaction for getting that joke.

Yeah, this is one of those cases where I wonder if the subby came up with the idea for the headline months ago, set up 'google alerts' for news items for Waldon Pond, and this morning, or yesterday after noon, finally, the opportunity came along...
