And in other news, Japanese men begin attaching Type-R stickers and gigantic tips to kimonos in an effort to hide the fact they are hung like 4 year old boys.

Ok, before people misread the article let me explain...

The article is about *MALE* kimonos

The kimonos that women wear are interchangable with a ball gown or wedding dress. They are still worn my the women on special occations, or if they need to "dress up" to a formal occation.

Male kimonos have a waistcoat and big poofy pants. I've only seen them at weddings and on samuri dramas.

Just a little FYI for you all.

(It's not like you guys read the article anyway)

Thanks for the clarification, Halkun.
I was wondering how they would wear one of these.

I think I know were the tradition of insane Japanese footwear started - this is the geki, traditional footwear to accompany kimono. Don't even get me started on toe socks.

Although I'm not attracted to japanese men, just not my type, there's something sexy about things like Kimonos. Maybe I'm just transferring my kilt fetish to the kimono. Mmmmmmm. Kilts. Sexy as hell. Scotsmen in kilts, even more so.

Swords REALLY ought to make a comeback. Folks were SO much more polite back when the average joe could strap one on. Calling someone an asshole could get you hacked repeatedly. Driving by and capping some unsuspecting dude is SO pussified, not to mention REALLY impersonal.
2003-02-03 03:07:57 AM
ThirdHorseman You are my hero. Thanks.

GraphicAddiction: You're telling me. I have a sword ready and waiting for when they come back into fashion.

Any day now...

Come on...
2003-02-03 03:10:15 AM
This is VERY cool news indeed.
2003-02-03 03:11:03 AM
GraphicAddiction - Not really, ya gotta have mad skillz with a sword to do anything about it.
2003-02-03 03:11:44 AM
Real men don't wear muumuus.
2003-02-03 03:12:00 AM
Thanks, Thirdhorseman, I can go to bed now.

The kimonos are for dekorashion.. they're for dekorashion.

The future of casual Friday.
2003-02-03 03:22:31 AM

Just wearing a sword is usually enough to avoid trouble. No one can tell if a dude has skills or not until its too late!
2003-02-03 03:23:49 AM
Plus, if it were anything like anime, every other random civilian would be Ultimate Hyper-L33t Samurai Master anyway.
2003-02-03 03:26:36 AM
GraphicAddiction - Of course there'd be trouble! People will be competing and killing each other to have the title "Strongest Swordsman in the World." Well... that's what happened at least.
2003-02-03 03:28:47 AM
I long for the time months ago when people were sick of Ackbar, since he was already annoying by the time Something Awful finished using him in photoshops, as well as being placed in every other entry in Fark photoshops. At least now, in 2003...oh....wait...I guess the revival of Yakov Smirnoff should be in the near future.
2003-02-03 03:30:04 AM

Got a thing for little girls, I see.
2003-02-03 03:32:50 AM
Careful there Flex, not all swordsmen go without packing a little backup in their boot, if you catch my drift.
