(AP)   You can get married at Juliet's house in Verona, but be aware that while it may seem romantic at first, it will probably end up being a tragedy   (hosted.ap.org) divider line

'Round here we just call that "marriage."

I've been there, the whole the is a cock-up created to attract tourists. Verona however is a beautiful city and would definitely be on my top 5 list of honeymoon destinations.

...if I weren't a blithering moron who transposes "thing" with "the" and am thus unable to attract a spouse.

They'll be fine, long as they don't try the friar's whacky plan.

Does this mean it's OK to marry a 13 year old girl now? And if so, anybody have a spare?

I love Verona. Except for that place where everyone puts their masticated gum on the walls. Gross.

Verona is beautiful.

Skipped the "Romeo and Juliet" spots. mainly, because not only is the story made up, so are the locations. Really, whats the point then?

Fictitious characters have supposed real world homes now? Where's the Jetson house? I want to get married there.

FTFA:The House of Juliet - where, legend has it, Romeo wooed the young maiden under her balcony - will soon be used as a venue for weddings, city officials in Verona said Friday.

I wasn't aware that the play written by Shakespeare was a "legend" or that anyone believed they were real people.

\Wants to have her children baptized on the legendary Pride Rock, just like King Simba

Juliet... when we made love, you used to cry
I said "I love you like the stars above"
I said "I love you 'till i die"
and there's a place for us
You know, the movie song.
When you gonna realize
it was just that the time was wrong
Juliet.

Execution or wedding, both are just a show for the spectators.

Fark you and everyone you love. R&J is awesome, only topped by "Comedy of Errors".

And CoE was done best by the Karamotzov Brothers and Lincoln Center.

Why would there be a ~$500 difference in the marriage prices for non-residents of the EU? For paperwork? I guarantee a couple from BFE, Russia could get married in Vegas for less than $100 dollars.

Ridiculous!

Dear IndyStar.com,

Help yourself to a few of these for your next article that mentions prices in Europe:

€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€

Also, if you need them, some of these as well:

£££££££££££££££

Warm regards,

Gordon Bennett.

In Verona or Arizona
What does it matter

2009-03-13 08:16:56 PM
Romeo and Juliet is about the stupid things teenagers do on impulse. This is only a romantic message if you stop paying attention to what you're reading at "star-crossed lovers."

2009-03-13 08:23:50 PM
FTFA:

The building belonged to the Cappello family, traditionally identified with the Capulets, leading to the folklore that Shakespeare's fictional character may have lived there.

FAIL. Shakespeare did not invent the character.

Been there. Utter cheeseball. At least they tried to hang some art around the place, but it didn't compare to the rest of the art locations in town.

Apparently, it is considered lucky to cop a feel of the bronze Juliet in the courtyard. Italian men have made that the shiniest breast in all of Italy.

AFAIK, "you" is also the formal, just like "vous" and "Sie" in French and German, respectively.

The best version was back when it was Pyramus and Thisbe - and the play-within-a-play of that in Midsummer's was much better than R&J
