I never once solved even one side of one Rubiks cube.

I guess God forgot the Rubiks plug-in

That was fun with the original Rubik's Cube.

Oh, hell. For each spin of a side, there will be 2n-1 spin states. Time to die.

Nah, the Doctor Who version would have infinite sides and span 12 dimensions. This version will just be the prop used show how advanced the infinite cube is.

Schrödinger?

I saw a 4D and 5D Rubik's cube on the Internet a few years ago. They were Java applets that would run right in your web browser. Myself, I don't care for puzzles too much. I'm smart as a whip, but I dislike the element of competition. (Although, if you want to play football or softball, it's on, baby.) They were kind of fun to mess around with, though I agree with subby - it takes a sick individual to take that kind of a challenge seriously.

/Would post links, but I'm really laz

I bet it can still be solved quickly and easily with one of these:

And yet, it is still solvable by the same simple goddamn formula

Yeah, I posted a video of this on my site (new window) last week.

I can't imagine anybody actually scrambling this up and solving it.

At least it's not impossible, like this old NES game, Hitler's Revenge (new window).

Meh. I'd just get pissed off after 3 minutes and put it down, like I would with a non-swapped sticker Rubik's cube.

That's just mean! Although it does make me wonder how long it would take me to figure out it was the cube with the problem and not me.

Sunidesus: That's just mean! Although it does make me wonder how long it would take me to figure out it was the cube with the problem and not me.

If you solve top-to-bottom, there are certain predictable patterns that start showing up on the bottom of the cube as you're going for the last pieces. If something starts showing up that you've never seen before, you can be certain that someone farked with the cube.

In other words, it would take me about a minute. ;)

I used gently pop a corner piece out with a screwdriver after oiling the insides a bit and take it apart and put it back together solved.

But that only worked a few times or else it would get loose.

Fuggin Bizzy: I saw a 4D and 5D Rubik's cube on the Internet a few years ago. T

Those are still around, pretty easy to find. Though trying to solve one? Oh dear christ.

Here's a fun bit of math trivia, while the maximum possible number of moves for the various cubes, pyraminx and the petaminx are known the number of possible moves for the Rubik's Snake is unknown. Since there are certain moves that are physically impossible eg they'd require crossing it over itself, the number of moves with the Snake is lower than the calculated number. And so far no one has figured out just how many moves are actually possible.

Foxxinnia: Yes, but can you solve a Rubik's Hypercube?

I've played with that a few times. Even knowing the math to solve it, I got a serious case of brain hurt after a while.
