Is it just me, or is The Core like...every stereotypical action/thriller movie in the 90's?

When I saw a preview for it, I thought it was Armageddon
2003-02-01 08:17:10 PM
Thats pretty lame. I mean, I'm really offended
2003-02-01 08:18:01 PM
Here comes another 9/11 "Let's remove everything from every picture ever made that reminds us of (insert tragedy here)"
2003-02-01 08:18:22 PM
Snoop_D_O_Double_G, you mean the movie?

*Horrified silence at how pussified this country is despite it's insistence on bellicosity*
2003-02-01 08:18:42 PM
I see knee jerk reaction is all good and well...
2003-02-01 08:18:50 PM
Good, that movie looks like total shiat anyway.
2003-02-01 08:19:22 PM
And Armageddon blew up one also. Let's re-release that to theaters.
2003-02-01 08:20:10 PM
Can I just say, waaaaaah?

Seriously. I saw someone hit a baby duck today. I'm going to make sure no baby duck murders are seen, anywhere.

Why not keep it? Then, people can dope themselves up on prozac and whatnot, blaming it on post traumatic stress disorder?
2003-02-01 08:20:13 PM
I didn't even SEE a shuttle looking thing in that preview...

Give me a break.

Looks like a totally stupid movie anyway.
2003-02-01 08:20:47 PM
AMC theatres rock. They let you bring in outside food and drink (except liquor). The whole pulling the trailer for the movie does not surprise me though, not in this day and age.
2003-02-01 08:21:00 PM
Yeah and Armageddon is on FX tv right now. Go figure...

The Core? Oh, you mean Armageddon 2: More Explosions. Seriously, why was this movie made? I laughed through the entire trailer (it was attached to Nemesis, I believe). The entire audience was giggling.

The defining moment was when DJ Qualls's character says, "So, you want me to hack the planet?"

Total. Trash.
2003-02-01 08:23:02 PM
It's done out of respect.
2003-02-01 08:24:50 PM
still dont see the thing exploding
2003-02-01 08:24:58 PM
no comment
2003-02-01 08:25:21 PM
Good, maybe the movie will be a bigger bomb than it's destined to be.

The Core: Logic Takes the Backseat.
2003-02-01 08:25:38 PM
I don't care about the reason as long as that crap is off the screens.
2003-02-01 08:25:44 PM
Harry's site is a big festering ball of orgasmic** movie rumors. Don't believe everything you read, half of it is fluff.

I'm still pissed they took out the World Trade Center scene from spider-Man.
2003-02-01 08:27:29 PM
Plot Summary: Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes (Eckhart) discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating. With the planet's magnetic field rapidly deteriorating, our atmosphere literally starts to come apart at the seams with catastrophic consequences. To resolve the crisis, Keyes, along with a team of the world's most gifted scientists, travel into the earth's core in a subterranean craft piloted by "terranauts," Major Rebecca "Beck" Childs (Swank) and Colonel Robert Iverson (Greenwood). Their mission: detonate a device that will reactivate the core.

See ? Explosive devices solve all problems.

First of all, I have to make it clear that I think that the core sounds like the dumbest movie I've ever heard of.

Secondly, I think that this is just farking dumb. Thanks you for putting the final nail in the coffin of the atrocity that is the Core. Thank you, AMC, you have once again made my life...wait, you've never done anything for me before.

Yeah, hacking the planet. That killed it for me too. it's a dumb movie, and they couldn't even scrape together enough decent footage to make a semi compelling trailer to begin with. Now, they need to reshoot. Maybe they should start from square one.

/Ain't it cool-esque troll follow suit and tell me I'm a complete moron for not wanting to see this "brilliant piece of art"

"02-01-03 08:21:00 PM Nomad

At least here they replaced Armageddon with Aliens. The TV Guide channel still have Armageddon listed though.
2003-02-01 08:31:15 PM
Jesus, that Aint-it-cool-news guy looks like he could go on a diet, cut his hair, get a life, stop buying cabana shirts and still look like shiat. Horrifying.
2003-02-01 08:32:57 PM
Wow, this'll just give some piece of shiat movie much undeserved publicity!!! The exclamation marks are in keeping with AICN's overenthusiasm about all things Hollywood!!!
2003-02-01 08:33:50 PM
I'm more horrified by that Marilyn Monroe shiat in the corner.
2003-02-01 08:35:50 PM
Anyone else thing this is just a lame publicity stunt by Paramount to generate buzz film? Look at how many have already watched the trailer because of it
2003-02-01 08:37:23 PM
I s'pose it's them danged Islamic terrorists being funded by weed dealers that're plotting to stop the rotation of the Earth's magnetic core.
2003-02-01 08:39:05 PM
This publicity won't save it from being an uber-crappy movie.
2003-02-01 08:42:24 PM
Man does everything suck or what.
2003-02-01 08:43:56 PM

that scene was never intended to be part of the Spider-Man film; it was filmed to be an especially cool trailer only. But I too was annoyed when it was yanked.

where were you when the space shuttle exploded....that february day...
2003-02-01 08:45:09 PM
I watched the trailer and didn't see anything remotely resembling a shuttle, much less one exploding. Was there some other version of it? The one on the apple site doesn't have the "hack the planet" line in there either.
2003-02-01 08:45:55 PM
Can any one say... "Publicity Stunt"?
2003-02-01 08:46:41 PM
ah, 1984 already?

Stop that, it's getting silly.
2003-02-01 08:46:52 PM
one of the worst examples was groups complaining that "The Two Towers" was offensive and exploiting 9/11.

Despite the fact that it was written ~50 years ago.
2003-02-01 08:47:48 PM
Is it just me or does Harry resemble the kid from "Mask"?
2003-02-01 08:48:29 PM
Nine-eleeevvvveennn, nine-eleevvveeennnn, nine-eleven.
2003-02-01 08:48:53 PM
There is a version of the trailer that shows a space shuttle crash landing in the LA canals - like the ones in T2.
2003-02-01 08:50:40 PM
one of the worst examples was groups complaining that "The Two Towers" was offensive and exploiting 9/11.

I'm guessing that group doesn't appreciate Public Enemy's "911 is a Joke" either.
2003-02-01 08:50:56 PM
Damn it, I was hoping the trailer (and eventually the movie) got pulled because IT WAS GARBAGE!! I mean, come on.. I only almost got my geology degree, but seriously... what kind of LSD was that?
2003-02-01 08:51:07 PM
GATOR: YES!!!!!! Harry looks like he eats a little Rocky Dennis for breakfast every morning.
2003-02-01 08:54:57 PM
crikies, its the same thing that happened with the movie Phone Booth. god forbid it had a sniper in it, and since with all the sniping going on around Washington d.c. and baltimore they had to push the movie back until next month. crikies people, its not that big of a deal... i hate it when people do things like this for all the people who get so easily offended =P

02-01-03 08:27:29 PM Reactron
Plot Summary: Geophysicist Dr. Josh Keyes (Eckhart) discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating....

the unknown force was explained in the trailer as some crap about a seismic weapon that triggered magnetic storms or some crap.

god, just remembering that makes me want to wash my eyeballs.
2003-02-01 08:55:58 PM
Crap, what was that B grade Wheaton film with whatsername from Deep Sleep Nine that this totally reminds me of?

Wheaton! Get in here and tell us why you're not in this one, too!
2003-02-01 08:57:02 PM
Damn it, I was hoping the trailer (and eventually the movie) got pulled because IT WAS GARBAGE!!

So were the rest of us, Saria, even the ones who know nothing about geology. But after "You've Got Mail," "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" and "American Pie" parts I and II, Hollywood has learned that crap sells, just as surely as a rat learns that pressing a lever earns it cheese.

All Hollywood insiders, moguls, and producers should be locked inside dimly lit mazes pervaded by the wafting aroma of cheese wrapped in dollar bills... but only the odor; all they should find in the maze, no matter how hard they search and how many levers they push, should be electric pain.
2003-02-01 08:57:05 PM
Good riddance to bad rubbish. The reasoning is sound enough - AMC shows a sign of deference to those who care about the incident. The Core, though, was so idiotically stupid, it's good to see it go.
2003-02-01 08:57:20 PM
Some people might very well be disturbed by this image, and prefere not to view it at the thatre.

but eh, fark em if that's how they feel. =p
