Louisville and Indiana? Oh, c'mon. If I wanted to hear so-so games, I'd watch soccer. Who posts this type of stuff? the Texas-Oklahoma State was a superior game.

Man, Texas looked good against Okla State.

R: Gee, someone from Texas thinks a Texas game is interesting, what a shocker. A game will always seem more worthwhile if you live near either or both of the teams.

Knucklebreather: What are you talking about? I'm from California. I root for UCLA and USC basketball and football, even if I do go to school at Texas. When I said that the Texas game was good, I see no point in making that up. My hometown is now San Antonio, but I could give a rat's booty about the Spurs.

The game of the season this Tuesday... Currently #4 Florida at #7 Kentucky: both teams on 10 or more game win streaks and undefeated in conference. Should be a potential classic.

2003-02-01 07:56:52 PM
I'm hating Louisville more and more with each passing day. I'm assuming that the NCAA will conspire to make a UK-UofL rematch happen in the tourney. And I hope it does happen, so the Cats can be the ones to shut those Pitino-lovers up for the summer. And whoever said Louisville had a ridiculously difficult schedule must be clinically insane.
Okay, I'm finished ranting now. Flame away.

To go from 16 points up to lose by 19 you have to suck.
I.U. sucks...good thing I didn't watch it or I would be
breaking shiat by now...or maybe not...one gets used to it.

WOW from what I know of College hoops and what's been posted on this site, I have never seen anything related to Guke. Funny that I should be the one to say this, but I am tired of seeing Duke sucks on every thread. Shut the Fark up. We all know Duke sucks you retard, stop posting it.

Many, I sat and watched Espn news for like 50 minutes waiting to see some highlights and they just said "and louisville beat indiana, bringing indiana loosing streak to blah blah blah."

no highlights, nothing. sportscenter came through though. a shame the game wasn't on TV. It was pretty funny how WLKY kept throwing the score over dan rather's head.

With the top 3 teams losing this week, let me give an early introduction to your new #1 team come Monday afternoon:

the Florida Gators

For their first challenge as #1: the Kentucky Wildcats.

Not an easy start.

I have 10,000 more respect for the fans of Indiana than I ever would for a significant majority of the asinine, low brow, slack jaw, redneck idiots that think UK is just GOD!!!! in this state!!! I would wager a small fortune that the majority of the "co-dependent" fans of UK couldn't find McVey Hall, Patterson Tower, or Chandler Medical Center if they were dropped off at the corner of Rose and Broadway in Lexington. The vast majority of these so called fans haven't set one foot in a classroom at UK, much less actually matriculated there. I will say this much for myself: at least I can claim a relationship with my school, THE University of Louisville. (alumnus, two times) There is more to this world than just what happens on a basketball court... but especially on a day like today, a terrible day in our nation's history... at least I have a team that I am most proud of, and can take pride in, no matter what the score!!! GO CARDS!!!!! (P.S.: Duke still sucks).

2003-02-01 09:36:50 PM
R: Well I misread slightly. But my point is, if you live or have lived near a team's home turf, you are likely to care about that team (if you care about any teams). Do you live near the team you were talking about? Yes. So that was what my argument was to begin with.

2003-02-01 09:46:24 PM
Knucklebreather: That's cool, Knucklebreather. You made a valid argument. I just think the Spurs are dumb, and I happen to live in San Antonio during the summer, so I inferred that your statement meant that I rooted for the Spurs. :)

2003-02-01 10:01:58 PM
SenorBDont look for a rematch in the NCAA Tournament. If two teams have already played each other in the same year, the NCAA Committee will seed those teams so they can only meet each other in the regional finals (if they are in the same region).

JBrad As a UK fan, I am jealous and am envy of you because of Rick Pitino. You're a final four team and will be as long as you have him. If I voted, you would be in the Top 4 with UK as #5. You kicked our arses this year, congrats. And I couldn't find any of those places that you wrote about. I live 2 hours from Lexington and have no care about where they are. I make my one trip to Rupp every year to support the team. Thanks and go MOREHEAD!!!!!

*YAWN* So when is the next World Cup- I do love that sport with the kicking the ball dere

2003-02-01 11:11:38 PM
Jbrad47128: I respect the fact that you are loyal to your school, but I can't cheer for a team who has a coach who would betray Kentucky fans so harshly by coaching one of their biggest rivals. To me, that is so disrespectful of the fans who cheered him on for years while he was at Ky and even after he left for Boston. That just proves that he never understood the spirit of Ky basketball (as fanatical as it may seem to the outside world). As for the whole relationship to the school thing, I can sort of see your point, but when you grow up listening to the games all your life and somehow the road leads somewhere else, you can't expect a fan to stop loving their team just because they didn't attend the school. (And yes, I've been in all of those buildings several times and probably should have one named after me with all the tuition money I've given them.)
And I know there are much more important things in life, but sometimes an escape is healthy.

2003-02-01 11:23:19 PM
Mattjarrells:While that may be true about the "rematch clause", there does also be a trend for "storylines". Why do you think UK and Duke are always set up to meet assuming both teams play up to their seeding?
As for your second comment, I am not jealous of Louisville. They did get themselves a fine coach, but I don't miss him. With Pitino, you get a lot of good, but a lot of bad as well. You can read my previous comment for part of the explanation. In addition, he just doesn't seem like someone I would want to spend time with.
UofL has surprised me this year and may indeed be a Final Four team after all this year, but I'm not so sure about them being a perennial powerhouse on that level.
And yes, go Morehead!!! (If Macy keeps it up, I'll give my okay for his wish to be the next UK coach.)

the crazy thing about that game was that there wasn't one lay-up.

One addendum in response to some of you who replied to my 1st note; many of these same UK fans (i.e., those who have never set foot in a classroom at UK) have the most... unspeakable... and insane approach to most of the other state schools... especially U of L. These people would just as soon see that institution blotted off of the face of the earth, and have said the most hateful, nasty, and rancorous things to anyone who even is remotely connected with the school... or for that matter, the city! All anyone would need to do is read in the Courier Journal for the several days before & after the UK/UofL game, some of the incredibly malicious things that were said about the UofL team, its members... it amazes me.... And I'm certain that this would never happen at a place like Duke... because... well... they suck too much... that's why!!
