Do you think he went to prostitutes because his wife wouldn't let him choke her?

His appearance on the Colbert Report just before the shiat hit the fan was priceless. His power-tripping douchiness was in full force, along with the obvious high-end lusty verbal innuendos.

Telegraphing the whole sordid debacle, he was.

OK, a game of he says she says.

One is a whore, one is a politician.

You might as well flip a coin to decide who to believe.

You might as well flip a coin to decide which is which.

Since we're dealing with a New York politician in this case, I'll take the hooker's word for it.

I'm having a hard time believing this. I mean, assuming it was true, why did this woman wait almost a year to come out with the information? Is she trying to take down his high and mighty position as an occasional figure to Slate?

TFA: But a high-end escort, whom well call Annie
...whom well call Annie.
...well call...

Nice job guys. Also:

TFA: P.S. Annie says she also had a date with "a current governor," not from New York. "But I'm not going to talk about that one." For now.

Why the hell wouldn't she? Unless she's looking for more publicity, which would explain this whole thing.

Eliot Spitzer? Where have I heard this name before....

Oh yeah. From here.

Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in consumer protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders. Some were misrepresenting the terms of loans, making loans without regard to consumers' ability to repay, making loans with deceptive "teaser" rates that later ballooned astronomically, packing loans with undisclosed charges and fees, or even paying illegal kickbacks. These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating effect on home buyers. In addition, the widespread nature of these practices, if left unchecked, threatened our financial markets.

Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American homeowners. In fact, the government chose instead to align itself with the banks that were victimizing consumers.

But, I mean, how important could a little predatory lending be. It's probably best we forget about this. It's not as important as who may or may not have choked a prostitute.

Anyone but Hugh Carey. That douchebag couldn't find Buffalo if you put him on the thruway heading west.

His plan to improve the State University system? Build the Carrier dome for a private university. Then cut funding for SUNY. Yup, way to help out your state institutions there, douchebag.

Of course, if prostitution were legal
1. She would have had been able to go to the police and report this abuse, and he could have been busted for assault
OR
2. We might not be so farking hypocritical when it comes to determining what is a good reason for chasing a politician out of office

No we don't. Spitzer's approval rating before the scandal was almost as low as Paterson's is now:

Eliot Spitzer, February 2008: 35% Approval
David Paterson, March 2009: 26% Approval.

That was only after a year in office, without having to deal with the kind of financial crisis that Paterson is dealing with.

You've got to be a major fark-up to get numbers that bad when you are a Democrat in a heavily Democratic state in just a single year during a time of relative prosperity.

Maybe she doesn't want to ruin her business.

Unless she's looking for more publicity, which would explain this whole thing.

She's an anonymous source. How is she getting any publicity?
Also, it sounds like the NY Daily News gossip people found her through their research, not like she contacted the media on her own initiative.

To borrow a line from the NORML people: Legalize it, regulate it, tax it, and then choke a biatch without worrying if your political career is going to blow up.

There is always going to be women who will have sex for money and there will always be men to pay for it.
