FTA: "The Web creates real relationships and does not result in autism and dehumanization," said Scheer, who admitted he gets nervous when he does not have Internet access while on vacation.

So autism and dehumanization are basically the same thing. Gotcha.

Given how Germans seem to behave on the internet it could be that they just aren't that interested in actually being pooped on any more.

Probably referring to people's unspoken dislike of disability and subsequent shunning and not being treated as a full human.

He is challenging the notion that Internet -> social withdrawal -> socially disabled -> the rest of it.

/Sometimes taking a charitable interpretation of what someone says, or seeing it from their POV is helpful

What the German's really need is a website that would let them reserve a beach/pool chair.

I wonder if AnnoyingTowelLayingDeutchBags.de is open?

Just like apples and oranges are the same thing? He used two different words to refer to two different things. The word "and" is a conjunction, not an equal sign.

2009-03-03 08:21:11 PM
Follow up to above post: He probably should have used "or." But I think his use was like in "cruel and unusual" and other such expressions, not equating the two.

I'm pretty sure the flagpole is connected to the wheel, sort of like those rods that connect old-school train wheels are connected. The faster the chair goes, the faster the flag pole will move.
The gentleman would be most pleased, I presume. I sort of would be.
