That and she sucks.

2009-03-02 12:48:45 PM
That's so sad. I had heard they were going to try and get a writer for the show this year.

2009-03-02 12:54:13 PM
She's about as funny as menstrual gravy...

2009-03-02 12:54:24 PM
The fact that is wasn't funny may have had a little something to do with it too.

The award-winning show is a victim of the economic slump and is currently on hiatus while the show's producers- including Sarah Silverman herself - try to figure out how to produce the show on a smaller budget.

Who the hell in their right mind gave that show an award?

Hopefully she'll decide to give up.

According to IMDB, it got nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and a WGA award. No wins.

Hasn't anyone mentioned that she isn't funny? 'Cause she's not.

Sarah Silverman is a coont. That is all.

they could probably save some money if they stopped paying people to write and film all the parts that suck.

2009-03-02 01:13:13 PM
I kept hearing how funny she is so I finally broke down and watched some of her stand up. What a waste of time that was. I wanted to shoot myself after the show.

After watching about half an episode, I'm convinced that the only purpose of this show (other than giving Sarah a steady paycheck between stand-up gigs) is a vehicle to provide a job to her sister and those two "gay" guys so they can get a paycheck in between gigs.

There's only so much shock/toilet humor I can take before it just becomes dumb and shows a lack of trying.

as much as i hate sarah silverman's humor, i support any effort to keep brian posehn (or any mr. show alum, for that matter) in steady work.

Due to the amount of hype and advertising comedy central did for the show, I assumed it was a success. They gave her damn near an entire hour of fawning on "Fresh Air" last year. So I'm thrilled to see not everyone thinks "Tee hee I'm a cute girl and I talk about poop." was comedy. Pretty much nothing she does would be funny coming from a male comedian, which is the point at which you should kill yourself. Or get off the television.

/a million dollars??!
//wonder how much that Dimitri Martin show costs per

She's not funny, but I would penis her with vigor.

2009-03-02 01:35:17 PM
I have seen exactly one episode of her show, and the B-plot, about exponentially-increasing passive-aggressive love for Tab soda, was hilarious.

/Why would I punish you Steve, when it's you who released me from a Tab-free prison of my own design, and led me to the discovery of my new favorite beverage... TAB?

shortage of offensive Asian and Jew jokes

Yeah, but there are plenty of vagina jokes left out there right? She survived off of those for years.

2009-03-02 01:47:42 PM
I can't wait for a certain farker to show up and tell people they're anti-semetic for not appreciating her humour.

2009-03-02 01:51:10 PM
I thought the show had its moments. The scene where the two gay guys got so high they couldn't drive their car was hilarious.

my point made for me: the only defenses for the show's humor is the brian posehn side-stories.

Regardless of how unfunny she is, I want to be the meat in that sister sandwich.

It was mentioned already, but 1.1 MILLION DOLLARS PER EPISODE?!?!?

/really? REALLY?!?

2009-03-02 02:01:57 PM
Glad to know I'm not the only one that found the gay guys funny.

They were the only thing that kept me coming back but the amount of unfunny that was the rest of the show made me drop it for good.

btc9183: Sarah Silverman is a coont. That is all.

What I like about Sarah Silverman is that she doesn't give two shiats about what you think.

2009-03-02 02:09:09 PM
I thought it was just racist and sexist humor but uttered in a cute little girl voice which apparently makes it ok.

2009-03-02 02:15:44 PM
I know someone close to the show out here and they told me that the show "died" the other day. This is no hiatus.

It's very tough to produce the show on what would be considered no budget to a network show. Sarah herself has described the show as a promotional tool for her live shows, as it makes her no money at all.

It was a successful show, perhaps CC will find some money for it.

If $1.1Million is the price for being funny for half an hour, I'd like to offer my services as somewhat amusing for 1/10th of that.

As a plus, I'll try to do it for an hour.

2009-03-02 02:38:41 PM
i dunno... the blackface episode was epic.

2009-03-02 02:42:22 PM
The show is not 100% un-hilarious. Unfortunately, that's about all I have to say on the matter.

2009-03-02 02:54:05 PM
It did have it's moments, but not enough to make me want to watch on a regular basis, or care if it gets canned.

Now if you want to talk about sheer, unadulterated, straight out of the tap SUCK, try catching Important Things with Demetri Martin. Painfully unfunny, pointless and just freakin' stupid, with a bad haircut ta-boot.

Weird, I could just kind of tell by the advertising not to waste any time watching that show.

/am I the only one who liked Halfway Home?

Ya, I thought the same, but caught it anyway just to give it a fair chance.
Off-night, nothing else on, right before my evening dose of DailyShow/Colbert.
If you find yourself in a similar position one night, don't give in. Change the channel or turn the TV off.

Color me confused about the budget as well. For reference, Buffy The Vampire Slayer was produced on a budget of approx $1 million an episode (at least for the first few seasons). And that was an hour long drama with special effects (Magic, monsters, etc). The Sarah Silverman show is 30 minutes of comedy with approx 2 sets. Where the fark was the money going?

ShawnDoc: Where the fark was the money going?

queef jokes don't write themselves.

It makes you wonder what shows cost to produce when an episode of Friends was costing $6 million an episode just on the stars themselves...

2009-03-02 04:00:54 PM
I think she's funny. Looking at these comments, I guess I'll have to file that under "secret shame".

That file is getting HUGE.

2009-03-02 04:19:54 PM
I actually love her live appearances and stand up but it just doesn't translate to a basic cable sitcom. Give her something on HBO.

2009-03-02 04:21:21 PM
She was OK as a guest on Monk.

2009-03-02 04:22:21 PM
The producers of the show worked on Channel 101. They could make something funny for 10 bucks.

Half of what was funny on Channel 101 was funny because it was so low budget.

2009-03-02 04:24:42 PM
People have mentioned that she isn't funny?

Ok then.

2009-03-02 04:28:30 PM
Dammit, I could've written my headline better...

/Should've been "Rebellion on Sarah Silverman set as Comedy Central tells her she can no longer get by on looks and Jew jokes alone."
//D'oh.

2009-03-02 04:29:19 PM
She is about as funny as a cramp.

Wow. I watched TSSS for a season and a half and never realized that Laura was the voice of ... Laura. Now I can stop relying exclusively on Jon Benjamin appearances on ATHF for my dose of Dr. Katz nostalgia.

This does not deserve the sad tag. This is hero tag worthy. She is seriously the most un-funny comedian I've ever heard of.

You must not have heard of Carlos Mencia or Dane Cook.

She's usually funny but that show just sucked. One poo joke after another does not equal funny.
