Oooo I hate that place! I was just there this weekend. I've never been to another store that forces you to walk all the way through the place even if you know what you are looking for.

Your place for household crap with a lifespan of 3 months before it starts to fall apart.

Apparently you've never had to pick up a gallon of milk at the grocery store before.

Actually in the room I am currently sitting I have a 'Billy' bookshelf and a 'Kontiki' chair that are both over 25 years old and still good. A bed bought from Ikea recently collapsed under me after over 2 decades of faithful service.

The stuff bought from Ikea might not last forever, but it won't collapse on you immediately unless you are doing something seriously wrong. If you are trying to live within your means with at least a tiny semblance of style Ikea is a good choice.

A valid point - however you don't have to walk through every single aisle, including the pet food and female hygiene aisles, only to get to the milk section and have to write down the corresponding number of the stock aisle just in front of the registers to actually get it. OH! And then have the cap in one aisle and the jug in another and the actual milk in yet another.

An additional example would be how shopping malls have the most convenient parking near the anchor store entrances.

The secret with IKEA stuff is to go back through a month after you assemble something and re-tighten the screws. Really helps make the stuff last a lot longer.

Then you are not using IKEA stuffs properly in the first place.

I'm sitting in my IKEA sectional couch. I'm loving it so far. JUst put some wood planks behind it so it doesn't gnash up against the wall.

ummm you do realize there are shortcuts directly to the marketplace and warehouse sections. Perhaps you needed a Ikea sherpa.

As for it lasting, i have several pieces of Ikea furniture that have lasted for over 10 years and over 12 moves. The ones I had that fell apart all came from my early Ikea period when I wasn't as careful assembling it.
