and here I was spending all my time worrying about how the gas prices might affect Nascar.

alternately, it seems safer to invest in a couple of baby mamas.

Carlos Pena is doing just fine, because he made sure to have a separate spending account that wasn't controlled by Scott Boras.

The other guys who put all their money with the Stanford group are all farked. But, then, that's the difference between a smart human being and dumb human beings.

I was in the Boy Scouts with Scott back in the early 80s. He was poor then. Sucks to see him go full circle. Hope he gets some of that coin back.

Wouldn't been cool last night if during the speech they executed one of these ponzi scheme billionaires to drive home the point the American people are tired of all this irresponsible behavior.

I hope some of his teammates help him out during this rough patch.

I guess this is a little different than the usual "I'm broke because I spent it all on my 7 homes, 24 cars, personal jet, and 18 baby mamas."

2009-02-25 09:14:18 AM
I am sure some teammate will have no problem opening his wallet and handing him a crisp 100,000 dollar bill to get him through the month.

I can see the following email scam now:
Dear Sir
I am a major league baseball player who, through no fault of his own, is currently in dire financial distress. Authorities have frozen my accounts in an investigation of the investment firm they were with. My lawyer says I am certain to get most of my $2million returned to me, but it may take up to a year to resolve the situation. If you were to wire me $1000 to help my current expenses, I can promise to double your investment upon restoration of my accounts.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I didn't read TFA, but I am assuming the only reason Scott Eyre has $13 is because he was paid $1 for every strike he threw last year.

When did they outlaw pawn shops in Philadelphia? If only he had some jewelry he could go without until payday...

2009-02-25 10:13:30 AM
Doesn't he get per diam during spring training?

Not sure if that will cover a mortgage, but most the other bills should be fine.

I don't know if you noticed, but Scott Eyre is white.

Too bad he doesn't have a guaranteed two million dollar contract he could borrow against.

You must be a Cub fan. Eyre pitched well for the Phils. Perhaps he was motivated because Charlie Manuel called him his right name?

At first, I thought it was sad. Then I realized he plays for the Phillies.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

It's a shame that none of these MLB players have friends or colleagues who are incredibly wealthy and could help them out somehow.

Maybe all those broke atheletes can get together and apply for a bailout.

Woah, helping friends out is socialism? I really need to stop helping my friends before I turn into Obama and ruin the country!

"Socialism" to someone who hasn't bothered actually picking up a dictionary means "acquiring money from any means other than corporate work or trust fund/inheritance."

Yeah, that only means that he'll be pawning things that actually belong to him. It's not like I said "rape a white chick" or "be elected as President"

Just remember:

In 1991 when they were on their way to playing The Perfect Game in Game 6 of The World Series (and a rightful placeholder on the 25 greatest moments in sports) the Minnesota Twins club was losing money due to terrible money management and the players slept at a Comfort Inn with little security during the ALCS.

Yeah it's not like he has a brother that's also a major leaguer who could help him out or anything like that.

I knew that was coming. So I prepared this statement:

"Finding a place on a map means you know where it is, typing it into Google maps means you're still too ignorant to be able to find it on a map."

Yeah I know but now you are, and I knew putting "Google" and not Yahoo as my example would set off the same alarms a spelling mistake would. Obviously I'm referring to typing a city name into the search bar instead of knowing exactly where it is on the map. I was originally talking to a Texan then "you".

/Disappointed in myself for even bothering to clarify.
//Anyway....

You've perhaps misunderstood me. I was making fun of people who don't know what socialism means.
