If we'd just had the balls to use the fluffy pillows (with all the cushion bunched up at the end) like the Spaniards will we'd have already broken everyone at Gitmo and gotten the info we wanted.

I remember being in Bilbao around the time of the Madrid bombings, and all the Spanish papers kept insisting the Basques did it.

Spain may be known for being libertine about life and lounging around and stuff, but their government doesn't fark around when it comes to terror suspects. Their NSA-equivelent are some ruthless bastards.

At least Spaniards apologised for the their Inquisition. They said it was far too inquisitive. Supposed to be the Spanish Casual Chat.

The guy at the end of the thread: I remember being in Bilbao around the time of the Madrid bombings, and all the Spanish papers kept insisting the Basques did it.

From what I recall, that was the line fed to them by a very unpopular government who'd rather not own up to the fact that joining in the Iraq kerfluffle was not without consequences. You were there - was that a general sentiment?

Spain may be known for being libertine about life and lounging around and stuff, but their government doesn't fark around when it comes to terror suspects. Their NSA-equivelent are some ruthless bastards.

On the other hand, they're pretty nails about due process and the like. They've lost judges in terror retribution assasinations and they still drag terrorists in front of courts, with defense attorneys and the entire kit. Of course, they have a pretty recent reminder of what happens when you start making Special Courts for Special Criminals.

The press around there are very reactionary and tabloidesque, and everyone was quick to go up in arms. Hell, could have even blamed it on the Moroccans and people would have still to jumped to that conclusion as well.
