How did they know the guy had narcotics? Is being called by someone grounds to having your car searched, or was he just stupid and volunteered that he had drugs with him?

During the pursuit, one deputy's patrol car spun out of control and struck a concrete wall. Another deputy also crashed his patrol car after striking a curb, Legg said.

I am going to invent some sort of flying machine, perhaps something can hover, so that police can follow a vehicle without a high speed chase.

and I plan to call this machine a "Hover-a-Matron".

I had an idea for police cruiser to be designed with a device that they could fire and it would attach itself to the back of the speeding vehicle. A drogue chute would deploy slowing the vehicle down while the attached device would start playing the Hampstersdance song endlessly pumping 100 watts of dee dee dee do in to the fleeing vehicle's compartment. No chase would last longer than 5 blocks.

You are seen driving around with a fleeing criminal, you are going to get your car searched. Try telling a cop no, he can't search your vehicle that is probable cause, your vehicle will be searched. They can do it the easy way or the hard way.

That's not what the article said happened, though. It said he called his friend to come get him and the when the friend showed up he was arrested for narcotics possession. Obviously if he was helping the guy they could search him and his car, but it sounded like they searched him just because he showed up.

That is a clear violation of the 8th Amendment.

The fact that he showed up proves intent to aid and abet.

This all started at Homestead and Winfield. The cops could've just shot everyone in the car and only taken 6-12 months off of their life.

Refusing permission for a LEO to search your vehicle is absolutely NOT probable cause to search it.

I have never granted consent (only been pulled over 3 times in the last 19 years)and have never been searched. One did walk his K-9 around the vehicle but that was it.

Of course the Sspreme Court has recently ruled that they can make anyone/everyone in the vehicle get out and search their person during a traffic stop, even if there is no evidence that a crime has been committed, which is obviously a direct violation of the 4th Amendment.

/the Farking alleged "conservatives" on the Supreme Court make me sick.

Nice driving, Lou.

And if you call me for a pickup and you're running from the cops and I have some sort of substance on me and I get arrested???

When we get to jail, you're getting a shanking.

Nevermind. I found the case you were referring to.

Although, it has long been held that passengers in a vehilce that has been stopped are not allowed to freely come and go, and that the officer has the right to curtail the actions of anyone with regard to their personal safety.

Do they not teach cops how to drive anymore? There seems to be a rash of these stories lately where cops hit crap or are just poor drivers and people get away in lower rated vehicles.

Maybe these cops just grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard and believe that all officers are supposed to be crappy drivers.

I'm pretty sure picking up a fleeing felon in your car, or attempting to do so is probable cause for a search of your car. If you don't think that is probable cause, you don't think anything is. And I really have no interest in your opinion at that point, except to mock it on Fark.

Hilarious. It's like the Keystone Kops crossed with the Three Stooges.
