"Allowing" is a joke. They've operated storefronts here in Tulsa for years. I never saw any shut down, and in fact got my one-and-only tattoo long before tattooing was "legal" here.

There are three modern-day eyeball tattoo pioneers, Pauly Unstoppable, Josh, and Shannon Larratt. I do not know if Pauly, the man pictured above with the many stretched facial piercings, has children (yet!). Josh is eagerly expecting the birth of his first child, who I believe it his first. But Shannon Larratt, the man pictured above with the white ink tattoo on his forehead does have one daughter whom he very clearly cares for deeply. He sees to it that she gets the best childhood anyone could ever hope for: healthy food, a safe place to sleep, a good education both in class and out, exercise in all kinds of activities, lots of one-on-one parental quality time, and the the greatest of these, love. He has, at times, had chronic bed-ridding pain unrelated to any of his body modifications, and on those days he saves up all of his energy for his little girl. If I were to write a short list of model parents, his name would be on it, despite disagreeing on the one thing I hold most dear. I'd say this guy and those like him are very capable of rearing the next generation.

I am an ophthalmologist (eye M.D.). I can tell you this is a very bad idea. The ink is being injected underneath the conjunctiva (superficial clear skin layer of the eye). However, if the needle penetrates the underlying sclera (much less than 1 millimeter thick) the "patient" will be very likely to develop a retinal detachment or endopthalmitis and would likely be permanently blinded. Do you trust your tattoo artist to not push the needle 0.2 millimeters too far? When I do ocular surgery I always have a very powerful operating microscope and an instrument to keep the eye immobilized. Ophthalmologists are paid the big bucks because we have the steadiest hands of any surgeons, but even I wouldn't try this without a microscope and equipment. Most of the time it would probably work out fine, but when it doesn't you can kiss your vision goodbye and I probably wouldn't be able to help. GOOD LUCK!

radioman_: my cornea sticks to my eyelid when I sleep and it comes off when I open my eyes in the morning. It's as much fun as it sounds. Most mornings it's just little pings of pain, but sometime the whole cornea rips off.

Yeeeooww!!! The only thing close to that I've had is when I got LASIK and a ring of blood vessels around my eye burst. I had terminator eye for a week and the most painful night of my life trying to search for the xanax with my eyes closed.

Lando Lincoln: There was at least one idiot that tattooed his eyeballs (I believe the white parts were tattooed bright blue). I remember the Fark thread on that one.

Shannon from BME had it done along with a couple other folk. They got blue dots, going for the Fremen look. Initially, I think he got a bit of an infection, but last I heard he was doing fine. None of them had any complications as of the time he "left" bmezine.

I actually kinda dug it. Not for me, though.

However, I can see a requirement that they must sign something that says that:

A.) They are aware of the likelihood that this will permanently blind them.

B.) They permanently and irrevocably waive their right to claim any federal, state, or local aid when they become disabled due to blindness.

you have TF - go to the TF (not TF Discussion) tab & look at the submissions. most are from about 10-20 submitters who know what works here so their stats are very high. occasional submitters get one every year or so (cough) - the stats get very skewed because of the range in # of submissions
