...at this point, it's all about keeping the Dems from getting one more vote.

I used to think both were equally douchey (but at least Franken was a douche who had views similar to mine), but it's clear that Coleman is a far bigger douche.

Exactly. His legal challenge is likely funded fully by the GOP to force more concessions in the senate to buy Republican votes.

Coleman knows he's lost, that's not his game. He's simply trying to drag out the recount process as long as possible in order to make it one vote harder for Democrats to get their 60 votes.

That and he personally hates Franken.

Are there any republicans Fark Independents who wish to provide some sort of argument supporting this dude?

I'm all for owning tanks and M16s while I short the stock market with my privatized social security moneys, but what?

Is this guy even trying to make a case for himself?

Well, and to plant the idea in the heads of dumbasses that Franken is an illegitimate Senator. "Liberal judges put Al Franken in power!"

The thing is, though, that Coleman's appeals and arguments are becoming so transparently desperate that now it looks to even the most casual observer that Franken's the one being victimized here, not Coleman.

At what point does Coleman show up in Burris's office, claiming to be a ghost executed in a South American country, only to reveal at the end that he may or may not be a senator again?

I came in to type pretty much exactly that.

AND by muddying up the process Coleman hopes to undermine Franken's mandate and eventual reelection effort by making it easier for pundits to claim "Well, Franken didn't really win the election."

===============================================================

I'm glad to see the courts go to great lengths to make sure the will of the people is fairly determined, but there really needs to be a reasonable limit set.

Republicans 2009: We need as many recounts and court appeals until our guy wins.

Why blame Coleman for trying to stop Franken from stealing the election?
Coieman won by 2700+ votes, then Franken demands a recount (conducted by an obviously partisan gang of fellow douchebags) who count and count with no uniformity in the process until Franken appears to eek out a minor victory with barely 200 votes (won only by selectively disqualifying batches of votes that would clearly favor Coleman), then it suddenly stops.

I applaud Coleman for calling bullshiat on Frankens scam to steal the election from him.
Many of Colemans votes were disqualified for specific reasons that didnt apply to Franken votes.
Franken selectively had votes thrown out only if they were from districts that Coleman would obviously win.
Franken only wants he votes from inner cities to count while rural areas are disqualified.
Franken even managed to get some inner city votes counted twice...and some of you farkers actualy think that disenfranchising rural voters and over-enfranchising inner city frankenbot voters is a fair democracy?!?

I have faith that in the end Coleman will manage to get democracy to prevail and will be able to rightfully reclaim his senate seat and Franken will go back to where he belongs, back with the liberal new york elite crew writing bad scripts for saturday night live.

I just think its even more pathetic that all of you Franken supporters are standing behind his obvious attempt to pervert democracy and call Coleman names for trying to make sure each vote is fairly counted.

2009-02-22 11:54:20 AM
Alternately we could just go with the election night total and the first couple of recounts before Al Franken tried to sue his way to victory with a canvasing board that favored him.

So when do you say that the results from one county showing more votes than voters are invalid but the results from another county showing more votes than voters are valid? When deciding how many votes to take from Coleman and give to Franken.

randomjsa: Alternately we could just go with the election night total and the first couple of recounts before Al Franken tried to sue his way to victory with a canvasing board that favored him.

1. Election night totals are before all the votes were counted. Most absentee ballots and all provisional ballots aren't counted on election night.

2. There weren't a couple of recounts, there was exactly one.

3. There's more Republicans on the canvassing board than Democrats.

So when do you say that the results from one county showing more votes than voters are invalid but the results from another county showing more votes than voters are valid? When deciding how many votes to take from Coleman and give to Franken.

Not a single precinct, anywhere in the state, had more votes than voters.

or their proteges would make another appearance, probably trying to bust in like they did in Florida. But since the GOP knows they're in an extremely weak PR position, they're just trying to stretch it out as long as possible without further damaging the national image.

Kind of shows you how anemic the Democrats and their supporters are when given the upper hand.

No, I disagree. I do not think you will see too many conservative Farkers putting liberals on "ignore" here. That was my point. Whiny libs here frequently threaten to put people on ignore b/c they do not like the stuff they say. It's kinda sad.

Coleman: I demand that all those votes be counted!

Franken: No problem.

State: Okay, Franken's up another 176 votes.

Coleman: I demand that all those votes be uncounted!

It's not hard to see what's going on here. The repugnitards are being whinyass little blowholes sobbing frantically that their guy lost, and now they're going to have to deal with the fact that the WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE has decreed an unstoppable Democratic majority.

Well here's the thing, my dear Phil: I am a veteran. I supported the invasion of Iraq (let's just omit the long discussion; it's done, now we have to deal with the mess dubya made of it.) I have lots of opinions you would most likely agree with. The difference is, I am not an idiot.

Namby-pamby? Yeah, that would be a no. And there lies the problem, my dear Phil. Just because people know that you are a dumbass does not make them a namby-pamby. It makes them smarter than you. Which is a very low threshold.

Shall we continue to trade insults or do you have actual arguments to present?
