Remember when that check-box below the comment entering box said, "Do NOT preview before posting," and now it says, "Post comment immediately without previewing first" ?

Yeah...that was cool.

I don't no if I was old enough to spell back when that word was in common usage. Really it's psych? damn, that just seems less cool.

\No, there is no misspelling.

When people write "our brain" it makes me think there's only one brain for the whole population, like a hive mind. Clearly I read too much Orson Scott Card.

2009-02-12 08:42:23 PM
headline is totally wrong, of course; it says that we get confused by statements that lack positive words. Just putting pairs of nots in a sentence doesn't mean that the meaning is preserved.

Right about now, a "LOL Wut?" response would not be a negative factor to this topic.

2009-02-12 08:43:27 PM
large ERPs occur at the words which make the statement false.

I get large ERPs when I drink root beer too fast.

For those who couldn't follow the original headline:

Our brains don't fail to be confused by statements which are not found to contain non-negative words. You didn't submit this with a worse headline, but mine didn't not get unredlit anyway.

Our brains are always confused by statements which are not found to contain non-negative words. You didn't submit this with a worse headline, but mine didn't not get unredlit anyway.

Our brains are always confused by statements which contain any negative words. You didn't submit this with a worse headline, but mine didn't not get unredlit anyway.

Our brains are always confused by statements which contain any negative words. You submitted this with an equal or better headline, but mine didn't not get unredlit anyway.

Our brains are always confused by statements which contain any negative words. You submitted this with an equal or better headline, but mine got unredlit anyway.

Our brains are always confused by statements which contain any negative words. You submitted this with an equal or better headline, but mine got posted anyway.

/ technically you can't negate red

My head asploded.

/Subby owes me a new keyboard.
//have you ever actually tried removing brain matter from between keys?

2009-02-12 08:49:51 PM
That headline is wiggity-wiggity-whack.

/Totally confused by it until third read through
//I am not winnar.

2009-02-12 08:49:57 PM
The headline reads like one of those referenda at the bottom of an Alabama voting ballot. I had to diagram one one time to figure out what 'yes' meant in that context. It was something like "Do you fail to abjure a motion to not decline to reject the defunding of the state park system?"

As we know,
There are known knowns.
There are things we know we know.
We also know
There are known unknowns.
That is to say
We know there are some things
We do not know.
But there are also unknown unknowns,
The ones we don't know
We don't know.
