Crash kills pedestrian from Gap

And the mall always seemed like such a safe place to walk.

There once was a man from Gap.
He went for a walk after his nap.
He got hit by a car and died.

SADSBURY - A pedestrian from Gap was struck and killed and four other people were injured in a three-car crash about 12:28 p.m. Monday at Route 10 and Business Route 30, state police at Embreeville said.

Is this what they meant by "fall into the Gap?"

Well, what does she expect? You leave your navigator lying around, naturally somebody is going to run over him.

Reach down, between my legs, ease the seat back...

As someone who was almost sideswiped by a blue-hair today, I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

Although I guess it's a nice change to see old people causing accidents because they are in a hurry, not because they are in the passing lane going 20 below the speed limit.

Police said Christian Beiler, 69, was talking to a motorist parked in a produce store parking lot near the intersection when a Mercedes Benz that had run a red light struck him and the other vehicle.

Not a farmer's market, but almost.

Surprised he didn't take out a horse and buggy too

I just watched that. I had to pause the vid after the 'hand grenade' line just so that I wouldn't miss the end of the movie.

At least he wasn't texting.

I was walking along one day and I saw some stores and then a place where there wasn't anything and then more stores. And I looked and in the empty space it said "coming soon, the Gap". And I was like whoa it's coming soon and it's already here.

/not mine

There was an old woman from Sadsbury,
Whose driving skills were poor, very.
As her car rounded The Gap,
It jumped into Beiler's lap,
Now his widow can freely remarry.

I hate the gap too but I don't run over people who wear their cloths.

First off, this happened in sadsbury.... hehehehe... so sad. Second, what a douche for running a light ... however ...

FTA: After hitting the Toyota, the Mercedes careened through the intersection, left the road and entered the produce store parking lot, where it struck Beiler and a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Why the fark didn't she hit the brakes before, during, after, the collision?

I mean who honestly runs a light, t-bones a car, and for good measure keeps their foot on the gas until they hit another car 200 ft away? You have to have some seriously bad reaction time to miss the brakes in all that time.

I hope she does serious jail time, because obviously she's not fit to drive and there is no way she shouldn't have noticed that her eyesight was off, or ability to pay FARKING ATTENTION was not there...

It's one of those "It's so bad that it's good" movies. A camp classic, to be sure.

The Camry was in the far right lane and was completely flipped around so it was facing westbound. This lady had to be doing near 40-50 mph through the light. Route 30 at this location is 4 lanes and a turning lane wide.

The damage done to the Camry (and the fact that it was flipped completely around so that it was facing over 180 degrees from its initial heading suggests that this lady hit it at over 40 MPH.

Shouldn't she have been driving a Volvo?

NeuroticMan: I wouldn't call 68 elderly, and I'm 23.

You obviously haven't seen enough half-blind senile attention lost neck stiffness no looking around self-entitled old bitty driving their 1976 "properly" maintained oldsmobile 30km/h under the speed limit while weaving in and out of various lanes, running reds and nearly clipping all sorts of pedestrians/cyclists.

Get back to us when you have a few years on the road around people over the age of 60.

/lives near various retirement apartments
//fears for life everytime I go grocery shopping

FARK really needs a "dangerous elderly drivers" tag. This phenomenon is nothing new and is only going to get worse. I'd be willing to bet that in a scientific study, drunks and teenagers - hell, even drunk teenagers - would be found to be better drivers on average than the elderly.

However, short of cars that drive themselves (the technology exists RIGHT NOW), I propose a solution:

Oh c'mon, jail time is only for the young. Hold a negligent geezer accountable for their bad driving? Never happen sadly.

I sell auto insurance to aarp members so I'm getting a kick out these replies. Ok hold on I have to quote someone who keeps saying they have a blue car with 4 doors and it's big. I swear everybody over the age of 60 owns a buick lesabre. I think there free after a certain age.

It's because they stopped making Oldsmobiles...

I really wouldn't consider 68 "elderly," either, though there is a lot of variation between individuals. Do we know she wasn't on her cell phone?
