Umm the holding in the endzone penalty forced a safety and a turnover of the ball.

Can't say I really care. The team and the franchise are two different things.

The Steelers were the best team going in, IMO. I'm not a fan of either team, but damn what a good game :)

2009-02-01 10:44:13 PM
The only bad play call was the 'ruffing the passer' call against Arizona. That was a HORRIBLE call. The rest were all pretty okay.

Shouldn't be that hard to remember. They are the first team to "win" SIX of them.

The fumble should have, at the very least, been booth reviewed.

They did. It was booth reviewed and upheld.

SamFlagg: Are we going to put together a reel of which plays we feel are badly officiated? Cause I'll be honest I felt most of them were legit. (and called both ways)

Exactly, there were numerous plays where Harrison was held and nothing was called. There should have been a blocking in the back call on the Cards kick off return after the Steelers scored the go-ahead touchdown, nothing again. At one point Polamalu was look for offensive holding when the Cards had a big play...nothing again. Calls went (and didn't go) both ways, Cards lost because they scored fewer points. End of Farking Story.

thedodo: davideggy: Here's an interesting stat question, how many other QBs have won 2 superbowls and not gotten MVP in at least one?

Bob Griese, I think.

I was curious and had to look it up. You are correct on Griese. I found it a little surprising that right after that, At the time Bradshaw won his second, he had not won superbowl MVP honors either. Of course, he went on to win two more and pick up MVP in both. Good omen for Big Ben?

Booths don't review the play. They decide if the head referee should review the play or not.

Congrats Steeler fans, I was pulling for the underdog but goliath came out on top in this one. Quick question though, did it seem to anyone else that the crowd was 90% steeler fans? During the trophy presentation when presumably all the cardinals fans had left the stadium still looked full!

soupbone: Sknyluv: So James how do you feel about punching a guy while he was down and the play was over?

Yep...that play was so stupid. He should not be eligible to receive his ring for that garbage. I can't stand either team so I have no bias. He showed how trashy he is. Not only was he punching on the guys back but he also threw him down when he got up. Pure trash.

He should be real proud of that. That simply farked an otherwise great Super Bowl.

Our Obama, Who art in The White House
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy prediction come,
Thy will be done,
on the field as it is in The Oval Office.
Give us this game our sixth super bowl ring,
and forgive us for our personal fouls,
as we forgive those who try to foul against us;
and lead us not into overtime,
but deliver us from the Cardinals. Amen.

The Steelers travel well and have a fan base all over the country due to the exodus of families from the city after the collapse of the Steel mills.

There are times you can hear Steelers fans chanting in opposing teams' stadiums during the regular season too - Jacksonville and New England this year are prime examples.

2009-02-01 10:48:29 PM
Oh I get it now. Because other teams aren't as good as the Steelers they must make up controversies to bring them down. I actually kind of sympathize with the Patriots fans now.

DamnYankees: I gotta say, as a fan of neither team, I think much more highly of AZ in that game than I do of PIT. I think they played more ferociously, had more passion, and more class. They just made a couple dumb mistakes and got screwed by the refs a few times.

When I think back to this season, I'll remember the Cardinals, and I'm likely to forget the team which beat them in the Super Bowl.

Dude, you may have a problem.

Steelers had the NFL's toughest schedule - period - and won it all.

Cards were 9-7 from the NFC West and played well, but lost.

Are you really going to try that line of reasoning? Seriously?

You seemed like a rational person during the election - don't prove me wrong.

Steelers were definitely a better team. I didn't say the Cardinals were better. I just said I was more impressed with them in this particular game.
