Good. Maybe if there was better sex ed, things like abortion wouldn't even BE an issue.

Of course, that just makes too much sense, doesn't it?

2003-01-24 09:26:56 PM
Ask and you shall receive

2003-01-24 09:27:06 PM
Boobies!!!!

2003-01-24 09:30:24 PM
Its called homework. And many people never seem to do it.

2003-01-24 09:30:42 PM
So what. I demand boobielinks!

2003-01-24 09:30:47 PM
wasnt Duh'bya gub'nya of that state? Glad to see that asshats' national policy of abstinence education worked from the beginning...

2003-01-24 09:31:24 PM
So let me get this straight, their idea of a good sex ed program is one where they tell them nothing about sex, like in the 60s. Yeah, it worked well in the 60s, with all the kids having unprotected sex because they weren't taught about it.

This is Bush's America in motion people.

2003-01-24 09:32:28 PM
It is not the schools job to teach kids about safe sex/abstinence/morals. IT IS THE PARENTS JOBS DAMMIT!!!

Where is the accountability, it is not my fault my daughter got knocked up, it is the schools, her boyfriend, blah, blah, blah. Nobody wants to do anything, a bunch of lazy mother farkers we are...

Sometimes this country makes me sick, maybe the terrorists are right in wanting to destroy this place.

a vote for sex ed is a vote for freedom!!!!!

2003-01-24 09:34:29 PM
Hell, they're demanding more than me. I simply demand better sex.

2003-01-24 09:35:02 PM
Damn right... if they are getting the same crap that I was getting some 10+ years ago then yeah they need something alot better. Simply getting told that this is slot A and this is tab B and these are all the diseases that you can get by bringing the two in proximity is not an education. It is a scare tactic nothing more.

Hell I would have them taught the whole slot A tab B education... but also teach them about oral sex so the little bastards can get off with each other without so much danger and without risk of pregnancy.

2003-01-24 09:35:16 PM
Does the lab fee include lubrication and condoms?

2003-01-24 09:35:29 PM
I'd be curious to see a report on the number of teenage pregnancies (out of marriage) from say the 1930's as compared to today (population considered). Anyone with numbers handy?

"Then once the meeting was over he referred us to the President of the Board, Mark Griffing, who just happened to have already gone home."

Methinks good ol' Geoff's a bit bitter.

Before you fly off the handle at the end, you make pretty good sense, 'Serker.

2003-01-24 09:36:14 PM
I betcha the class stoner just said "Hey, how about you shut up, sit down, and show us some pornos?"

2003-01-24 09:36:16 PM
Drats! JOHNDX beat me to it.

Actually, I read the headline as Students Demand Better Sex

Shame on me.

2003-01-24 09:40:18 PM
Maybe they want more, y'know...hands on training. can't say I blame 'em!

2003-01-24 09:40:50 PM
Code_Archaelolgist:

They're not even getting THAT! There's NOTHING on STDs, even the nine-month STD (a sprog).

I got plenty of lectures on STDs in school, replete with photos of a penis covered in herpes sores. Ick. If that doesn't teach you to use a condom, nothing will.

2003-01-24 09:41:00 PM
Better sex ed? Not in Bush's Great America!

You teenagers better not fark till marriage! And if you get pregnant, well, we will force you to have the baby, and then not help you in anyway whatsoever!

Sieg Heil! Sieg Bush!

2003-01-24 09:42:51 PM
Hell, Galen was doing better than this in 100 AD.

2003-01-24 09:43:04 PM
Something like this should do the trick -

2003-01-24 09:44:10 PM
Dr. Jack Clemmons, Superintendent of L.I.S.D., told CBS 13 before the meeting that he would speak with us. Then once the meeting was over he referred us to the President of the Board, Mark Griffing, who just happened to have already gone home.

Naw, as you said, not the least bit bitter....

2003-01-24 09:44:21 PM
the thing is (coming from a highschool senior) everyone knows everything anyway. we all have the internet (the safest sex of all) but not everyone of my generation is smart/mature enough to use condoms. the only thing sex-ed did for me is make it uncomfortable to walk for a while.

2003-01-24 09:44:32 PM
Teach the little monsters about sex in school, or else they'll try and figure it out for themselves. "Um...Mom...Dad...guess what?" Time to mess up your life and either get married or have an abortion.

It should be the parent's place to teach the kiddies about this stuff, but with what I hear about how (un)involved lots of parents are with general education, I'm sure that could extend to sex ed. "Go ask your mother..." Better to possibly get the message twice, than not at all.

On the other hand, don't these kids have access to the Internet? In my day, we had to rely on finding our Dad's p0rn magazines to learn some of the basics...

2003-01-24 09:44:44 PM
Darth_Smurf - the Kama Sutra is a movie now.

Not that I've seen it.

People in hell demand ice water too. Some bunch of Student Government weenies looking to dress up their resumes for their Harvard applications primp for the cameras and they've supposed to be taken seriously? Did you see that weak list of 'demands' they came up with? Please.

Guess not. Must have been a mod.

2003-01-24 09:46:48 PM
Wtf? We don't want a better sex ed class, we want a sex class.

2003-01-24 09:47:50 PM

2003-01-24 09:48:31 PM
This has nothing to do with the thread but I would like to point out that the Cartoons By gaspirtz banner ad is annoying as hell. The pulsating is making me ill. Thank you that is all.

2003-01-24 09:50:46 PM
i haven't noticed the banner

2003-01-24 09:52:28 PM
I hope they get better sex education. Simply because the majority of new AIDS cases in the USA are heterosexual women between the ages of 18 and 25.

I do beleive that they should teach about abstinenece but also let kids know all of the facts, especiall about STD's, how they can be contracted and how they can be prevented.

"Hell I would have them taught the whole slot A tab B education... but also teach them about oral sex so the little bastards can get off with each other without so much danger and without risk of pregnancy."

I have a little cousin in high school right now and the big thing with kids now a days is with oral sex. There have been news reports of kids being caught doing it on busses and in school cooridoors. Kids apparently learned from Clinton the oral sex is not actually sex.

They still need the education because you can still catch STD from oral sex, like Herpes, the gift that keeps on giving.

Better to be porperly informed with all the facts than not know anything at all and get into trouble.

/be safe and wear a condom

while on the subject of getting off subject, i see that CAPalert finally got around to reviewing Gangs of New York

Feh, this was already covered on South Park.

2003-01-24 09:53:58 PM
I know how much you all hate Florida here on fark, but my experience was actually pretty decent here as far as sex ed. Now as for the rest of my public schooling....yeah....there's a reason half my class dropped out before graduation.

Teaching abstinence only is so DUMB!!! They're gonna do it anyway, so teach em to do it safely, fools!

2003-01-24 09:54:09 PM
The human body is built to start humping at a certain stage of its development. There's no changing that.

The only thing we can do is make it possible, again, for a seventeen year old boy and girl to become adults, move out, and start a life of their own.

Don't try to repress natural urges. That's cruel and distructive. Build sound social structures around human nature.

2003-01-24 09:54:41 PM
Don't forget though kids, mutual masturbation is safe and OK!

2003-01-24 09:54:59 PM
I personally don't really care what type of sex-ed my kids' school is going to teach. I'm going to try out that whole parenting dealy first and actualy try to raise them and teach them myself. Od course I will still move for better sex ed because I would like some of the other kids in the school to at least have some sort of idea of what sex is and how it should be handled.

2003-01-24 09:55:57 PM
Now if only America would stop bullying around the rest of the worl- *Smack* *slap*

Whew! I just thwarted a threadjacking attempt!! =b

VexedThespian-

You and your friends might know it all, but you'd be suprised how many people know so little about sex in the US. Go to any Teen Sex Help site and be horrified.

Once saw one of those help e-mails from a girl asking if she could get pregnant from cybersex. She was 20.

Ahh yes, good work Mr. President. Heil Hitler, err, Heil Bush!

Don't mind me, just spreading the boobage.

Boobies site 1

The only thing we can do is make it possible, again, for a seventeen year old boy and girl to become adults, move out, and start a life of their own.

It's called, "joining the military." Training, job, room, board, responsibility.

Is it just me, or is this article NOT from the Village Voice? WTF?

Teaching abstinence makes better factory workers. Help the economy and make babies today.
