Where do you find these cheap upgrades? The last time I looked at an upgrade from coach, it was $90 for the flight from ORD to RDU (a $54 flight lasting 2.5 hours). That was definitely not worth it.

Any of the longer flights (nearly all of my flights are RDU -> SFO and return) are either not available for upgrade, or SIGNIFICANTLY higher (like in the upper $400s)

I hit the back of a car a few months ago, completely my fault. But the woman I hit (though pissed her bumper was ruined) was very cool about it. There was no complaints of any injury from herself of the passenger. I was grateful.

People are saying that this is a genuine accident. The airline is not at fault. The aeroplane manufacturer is not at fault. It was caused by geese. The passengers are mostly just grateful that they're alive. A couple of morans believe that they'll get rich apportioning blame where there is none. These people are deserving of our scorn. How do you know who is and is not at fault? Were you watching from above? How do you know that the geese could not have been avoided? Maybe brass balls was catching a round of jaw from the hot flight attendant and could've avoided the geese. Anything could have happened to cause this. The NTSB has said the investigation will take a YEAR. Good thing we have people like you that can apportion blame in hours without access to any of the facts or evidence not stated in the NYPost.

I don't think anyone is trying to get rich. These people get free upgrades for a YEAR???? For most of them that probably means NO FREE UPGRADES because they won't be flying this year. But, since i would have flown less without the offer and some of those free first class seats i got would not have been sold anyways, the cost to the airline is essentially zero.

Just flew with USAir to Phoenix from Indianapolis (getting a kick...) and they sold the upgrades for $150. Delta charges from $50-150 depending on distance, and Airtran does sell upgrades from $49 to $99. The 50 buck upgrades are for shortish (about) 500-mile flights.

I'd prefer a guarantee that my luggage will always arrive in the same city that I do.

Also, the geese were not stationary, they were in motion making it so the pilot could not predict their motions. It is quite clear that avoiding the geese was not a simple option.
