The show has been absolutely depressing and miserable the entire season. I feel like I'm watching a live-action Linkin Park song.

And turn a farking light on instead of using your damn flashlights!

2009-01-26 09:45:38 AM
Yeah it's too dark. I thought they were going to replace Petersen, but I haven't seen his replacement yet. . . . . .

2009-01-26 10:14:14 AM
Original CSI is still on?

Demetrius: And turn a farking light on instead of using your damn flashlights!

Heh - I've been thinking the same thing. It's like watching someone play Silent Hill. I keep hoping for Pyramid Head to come around a corner and lop Morpheus' head off.

2009-01-26 10:59:45 AM
I like Morpheus as Gil's replacement but I think it's going to be a while before things flow smoothly. Still, it won't stop me from watching.

I still watch, but its been rather odd and uncompelling ever
since Grissom hooked up with Sarah.

Mostly, I like to laugh at the convoluted things they come up
with, and I can't be bothered with CSI:MIAMI or CSI:NEW YORK,
since watching the show once a week is plenty for me.

These crime lab shows always dick around with all this mood lighting bullshiat. It's a farking lab for chrissakes. Turn on some farking lights!!! You're looking for clues to solve cases! Jezus farking Christ!! Why do the labs in these shows look like they're some blacklight room in some trendy club? Look at Quincy's lab you idiots, bright as shiat!!! It's so you can actually see what you're looking at!!!

honestly, I haven't been watching since BSG started up again.

Must...kill...Baltar.....

2009-01-26 11:52:51 AM
I like Laurence Fishburne.

That being said, ever since the show turned from forensic science and mystery to a damn office soap opera, I've stopped watching.

2009-01-26 11:54:56 AM
why would fishburne's character, a college prof, quit his job to become a low-level CSI-1? is he researching a book?

CSI went from being a forensic procedural to a police action drama intended to create the next Chuck Norris out of David Caruso. I knew the series was gunning for a shark tank to leap over when Caruso ended an episode by walking away from the exploding SUV. His single-shot boat destruction made me cringe.

As for the regular CSI, losing three of your core 8 characters should tell you to wrap it up and write your final season. Law & Order has managed to avoid this problem, and so did M.A.S.H. once upon a time. I don't think this show can survive a major cast turnover.

There's no reason for the lab to be so damn dark.

But when they're searching houses?

I talked to a cop friend, and he explained it -- When you're looking for small things (hairs, etc) it's easier to focus on one small spot, like that from a flashlight, than if the entire room were lit. That's why, even in middle of the day, they keep the blinds shut and use the flashlights.

Funny, I have been complaining about exactly those two things all season long. They did actually start an episode this season with Linkin Park, so there's that. Oh and "Let's go to this guy's hotel room, but not bother to turn on the lights"! Is there no switch? No power at all in the entire hotel???

I also think it highly unlikely that a tenured professor and author would take an entry level CSI job at his age.

I'm disillusioned to learn that forensics labs aren't held in night clubs in Joel Schumacker versions of Gotham city.

It's a prime-time TV show that calls itself forensic science. The fact that it's an hour long show of made-up science, overemphasis and scientific improbabilities doesn't bother me in the least.

What I said was accurate. But if you want to nit-pick the accuracy of network television be my guest. Just be sure to clear your schedule.

The rest of us will just enjoy it as entertainment and nothing more.

Petersen is an asshat - I never did care for him.

Fishburne is cool, but probably the older white women that were a huge part of the demographic like Petersen better, and will switch to another show. I may actually start watching again now that they mixed it up.

/and I agree, turn on the lights

I really like fishburne's character. I liked the other guy too, but whatever.

Meh, I much prefer NCIS anyway.

At least the girl they have playing the forensic scientist actually has a real-life degree in her field (graduated with honors studying Sociology, Criminology, and Psychology, and was going for a Master's before getting involved in the entertainment industry).'

Plus, Pauly Perrette: way hotter than Marg Helgenberger. Just sayin'

FlashHarry: why would fishburne's character, a college prof, quit his job to become a low-level CSI-1? is he researching a book?

It's more of a "thrill of the chase" thing.

I actually like how Langston fits in (or doesn't fit in) with the group, but CSI's best days are behind it. I think the idea that Langston, a guy who is usually fully in control of situations and the smartest guy in the room, is lost and has to learn a basic job task like dusting for prints.

Bringing in a new cast member is a bit risky no matter what, and the last time they did it (that blonde chick, whatever her name is) it just came off as annoying. I think the show might be good again once everything clicks with the cast, but I doubt it'll ever be as good as when Petersen was on it.

That said, whenever they need a ratings boost, he'll come back for a guest spot.

I like LF's character so far. I'll still watch. Last week's ep was the best in a very, very long time.

Plus, he's about a billion times better than Caruso on Miami.

He is the executive producer, he wont leave that show till he is dead or it is cancled. See his leaving NYPD Blue for why.

I thought Forgetting Sarah Marshall was a mediocre comedy. It had its moments, but it was mostly a throw away.

However, the one aspect that haunts me is how ridiculous most crime dramas (especially CSI) are. And whenever they use music to add tension to a dramatic scene, I laugh a little bit thinking of the guy writing the music.

I came in here to say the exact same thing. They taught us this when I went through the police academy. Even in the day, it helps to cup a hand around your eyes a bit to find things like bullet cases and such.

hot, naturally

She has this inexplicable talent of losing her clothes halfway through any screen appearance, was wondering how she'ld go about it here. All they've done so far is give her annoying exposition and petty spats, complete waste of her skills.

I liked CSI a lot. But the season where Sara left, it got...weird. Odd camera angles and flashbacks with Warrick. The writer's strike and delay of shows just made me get used to not watching it. I caught the final episode of that season, and realized: I didn't care what happened to Warrick.

I liked CSI when it was mostly about the crimes, with a little innuendo for fun.

Larry Fishburn sucks as an actor, with the exception of Matrix 1.

Not hater, just find him damned near intolerable to watch.

Methinks CSI has run it's course, sad to say.

2009-01-26 07:58:32 PM
Gil was the best character on the show.

And while I think that Marg Helgenberger is absolutely beautiful, that by itself is not enough to get me to watch the show. I gave Fishburne's character a try last week. Still haven't decided whether I'll tune in again.

As someone else mentioned above he isn't Grissom's replacement, he's just a new guy. But I like him (and his character) as well and I think the episode last week took a pretty funny approach having him fumble through his first crime scene and making a mess of things. Hopefully they don't have him come up to speed too quickly. I still find the show a fun way to spend an hour especially compared to some of the other TV choices out there.

/CSI:NY is kinda boring
//CSI:Miami is unwatchable

2009-01-26 08:40:43 PM
I've only watched once in the last several years, when I was under the assumption that they were going to kill off Sarah. Enduring the horrible dialogue and annoying overstylized forensic scenes would be more than worth it if it meant I would get to see the bucktoothed, anorexic, talentless skank with the most annoying voice on earth finally bite the dust.

But they kept her alive. They dragged her annoying ass through the desert, taunting me, and didn't kill her off.

CSI can burn for all I care.
