Personally for an article that talks about sending mechanical spiders to Mars I would have gone with a Ziggy Stardust reference.

We better be absolutely sure that there really is no intelligent life on Mars before we send creepy cartwheeling spiderbots up there to scare the natives.

And not to belittle the abilities of this newly discovered arachind species, but I think that given for extra limbs even my completly unathletic self could do cartwheels easily. Cut of half that succers legs and see if it still all that gymnastically impressive.

LOL that is farking hilarious, and awesome. I had no idea there were cartwheeling spiders.

hahahaha! awesome, here is a better video of a rolling spider. It looks to be the same as this one, but I'm not a spider scientist so I don't know for sure.

Yeah, they look similar, probably related, but the one in the article is actually hand-springing, as opposed to folding up like a wheel like the one in the youtube video. Still some crazy shiat.

You know, I was all set to try and like this spider. It's rather pretty, with it's golden fur and it's being friendly to humans (the article said they will actually approach and crawl slowly onto an offered hand).

Then I saw the rolling/flipping action, and realized the only way it could be more horrible was if it leapt for your face, shrieking, at the end of the tumble.
