Sweet, an Ike story!

/people are still cleaning up in my hometown, but apparently there weren't enough black people stranded on a bridge to get news coverage months later

The sad part is that this destroyed nation's currency is probably worth more than our own. As a test, go to the Boobies club and see what kind of lap dance you get for that 50 vs a US 50.

Based purely on the apparent value of the football card, I would guess the box belonged to Art Donovan.

Didn't work quite as well as planned, my guess, but give it some time.

My understanding (my mom's a UTMB alum) is that the UT system is planning on closing down the school.

it's some guy who hawks CDs that allow you to learn the computer skills, including the ever-confusing ebay. Buying his lessons will make your peener larger or breasticles perkier (or maybe both if you're one of those people).

While I can understand the prom dress and the war medals, why did they only have a fourth of the Confederate currency that would be required for something like that?

But it looks like a crack at my comment. I was trying to say the only person that would preserve an Art Donovan card would be Art Donovan... The reply said something about baseball cards and a computer skills picture. I am still no closer to understanding.

In his commercials, he says something like, "I can't say that I'll make you the next millionaire due to finding an attic full of old baseball cards..."

Well, to be realistic, the dress would have been pretty old when it went into the box...

I'd like to take this opportunity to hail the heroic transvestites of the Confederate States of America and the Union. Without Our Heroic Boys in Gowns, Dr. Arliss Loveless' giant face would be carved into the Blackfoot Hills, the Interent would be nothing but a collection of tubes, and we'd all be steampunks with itchy red longjohns which we' only change once a year because the water would be needed for steam engine boilers.

Sure, wood, brass, marble, steel and copper look nice, but have you tried to lug around a steam-driven laptop? iPods would be the size of phonebooks. Phonebooks would be the size of ENIAC. Mainframes would be the size of Wichita, Kansas. New Orleans would be under the Gulf of Mexico.

It goes without saying, of course, that the Confederate bill, the medals and the diamond earrings all belonged to the same person. Occam's razor.

Little known fact: Bea Arthur fought in the Civil War and rose to the rank of General under the name Ambrose Burnsides. Sideburns are named after the fake forelocks that she wore to disguise her well-known face from fans of Burlesque. They were made of Orang-Outang hair.

She then disappeared around the same time as the Civil War's Official Cynic, Ambrose Bierce, and Ambrose Small, a Toronto businessman, causing Charles H. Fort to speculate that supernatural forces were collecting Ambroses. The truth is that a secret society of Ambroses (the League of Gents Named Ambrose) played a key role in wartime espionage and they simply disappeared themselves after their mission was accomplished to work on dirigibles twenty years before Graf von Zeppelin's first flight. Any person who posts a reference to the Golden Age of Ballooning will be court-martialed. Er, another reference to the GAB. After mine.

That's a bit tortuous, but by Scott, I'd like to see the movie version, starring Bea Arthur as herself.

That's because people around here are self sufficient and don't sit around waiting for someone to come wipe their butt for them.

How come Kanye hasn't weighed in on this? Nobody's blamed Bush either. Weird.

img1.fark.net Rare antique objects are worth a lot.

Towards the end of the war Confederate currency was literally not worth the paper it was printed on. But bury it in the sand for a thousand years and it becomes priceless.
