Back in high school, around 1982 or so, a buddy and I liked to smoke pot and watch Mr. Rogers. One day he took a tall one pint milk carton and fitted it out with a stopper and some plastic tubing (it might have been a couple of straws). He put some water in it, gave it a pull to create that oh-so-familiar bubbling sound, and said, "and that's how you make a bong!" My friend and I were stunned and speechless. We sputtered at eachother helplessly, unable to process what we had just seen.

I know if I heard that from anyone without having seen it...yeah, I'd call shenanigans. It sounds like a load of crap. I can only surmise that there are other uses for a bong than those I'm familiar with. I don't know why he was teaching it to kids, but dear god it just blew my mind.

I should add that I would never bad-mouth Mr. Rogers. He's a personal hero, a good soul and a life well lived. Someday, I'll find a video of him building the bong. It has to be out there somewhere.
