But who's going to play Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum or the dude from Candlebox? They are just about as relevant musically.

Daniel Craig is on my short list of actors to play ME in a film too. Him, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon. You know, if we're trying to stay true to life.

Oasis, artistically relevant or not, is still a charting act playing at arenas after 15 years. Soul Asylum broke up, and Candlebox has been relegated to a club act... so your point?

apeiron242: Who the fark thought he had a voice worthy of recording?

A marketing genius with a strong tolerance for bratty voices. Not an obvious choice, I agree.

Outstanding.

To the coolest Bond since Connery!

Wow, this hatred for Oasis is getting into Nickelback territory. Rarified air, indeed.

it sounds like Craig and Gallagher are friends, so this is just the public equivalent of you busting your buddy's balls...it just happened to occur on a red carpet.

This is Fark. Any band that's seen even a modicum of success is full of sellouts with no musical or lyrical ability and can't hold a candle to some obscure local band nobody's ever heard of. As much as Farkers hate hipsters they certainly seem to share a lot of the same qualities.

Your point. I see it.

Daniel Craig would be hot if he stopped pouting so much.

Word to the wise Mr Craig, never go full Guido.

Nobody else seems to have realized that have they? In their haste to commence the hatin'.

Nah. Oasis just sucks.

I love Oasis, but Craig's probably right - because Oasis don't base their sound on over-the-top guitar histrionics, doesn't mean they aren't a good band.

/it's a fact 90% of people on fark are Rush-loving basement dwellers
//and somehow also hipster Wentzs.

I think a lot of the rancor towards Oasis is because of the attitudes the Gallagher brothers had in the mid '90s (and up to now to a lesser degree). I don't think about Oasis too often, but when I do, I remember their rampaging arrogance.

Their music's alright, but there were so many more interesting bands coming out of England a few years earlier in the shoegaze scene - give me albums by My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Lush, Slowdive, and Swervedriver over ones by Oasis any day.

/too rational for Fark - don't care, I post anyway
//at least I'm stubborn and narcissistic

Not necessarily.

I love Metallica from back when they were highly successful but before they started to suck as hard as humanly possible. I still love the "Californication" album, although just about any other RHCP fan sneers at it because that's "when they sold out" (meaning: had a hit album). I listen to Chinese Democracy voluntarily, and enjoy it.

Oasis just plain sucks, and have egos only comparable to those held by U2 without anything near to U2's talent. That says quite a lot, because I hold U2's musical prowess in as high regard as Celine Dion, any album consisting of pan pipe covers of classic tunes, or the entire indie scene.

Can we go two farking days without an Oasis thread? The music tab is slow enough as it is, and these are taking up precious space.

srhp29: Wow, I wonder if Noel can act. Maybe they should just switch spots.

Actually, I like Oasis, so whatever.

Still a funny comment.

THIS

Craig can strum and Gallagher can be James Bond. I know nothing about the guy, but a whiny Bond would be better than stoically devastated Bond.

LegalizeThoughtCrime: Noel Gallagher is the Dane Cook of music.

AWESOMENESS.

*Perhaps we can send Gallagher & Wentz over to that new Tool show on VH1 to show the lads how d-bagging is really done.

There wouldn't be the hatred of Oasis we all know and love if Noel Gallagher would just shut his farking mouth except to sing.

It's not necessarily the songs that bother us, Noel. It's that you're a whiny douchebag with delusions of grandeur. And you have to express it. All. The. Damn. Time.

Just make music.

Hilarious Double Entendre: FACE.

/you suck, Gallagher
//So does your band.

I totally forgot about the term "Face!"

So when an interviewer asks them a question, are they just meant to stare blankly into space?
