Because they're getting a new backup backup goalie? Sounds like someone is a Flames fan.

Cansucks? that's it?

Not sure how this got a green yet USA vs CAN gets nothing.

LaBarbera?

Yeah because when both your franchise starting goaltender and his backup get groin strains and are on week-to-week, god forbid you trade a 7th round pick to trade for a career back-up from your hometown to backup your AHL all-star and not yet NHL ready goaltender.

Either a Flames fan who knows the division is ours when Sundin and Luongo are both playing, or a SJ/Detroit fan who is afraid of getting knocked out of the 2nd or 3rd rounds by us.

I liked LaBarbera, but he never lived up to expectations. Maybe the change of scenery will do him good.

So Ersberg it is (he's back soon). I'm a Sabres fan living in LA so I'll root for the Kings. They're not quite ready for the playoffs yet (although they have an outside shot this year). 2-3 years from now though, they're gonna have a competitive team. Solving their goaltending problems is the #1 component for them to start winning, just pick someone and stick with 'em. That was the problem last year. Good luck to them, and too bad the Canucks wouldn't throw in an extra bag of pucks for LaBarbera.

Zackly, this is a great game, like a CHL All-Star game with hitting.
Does Justin TV have it for the hockey deprived?

If you're in Canada - TSN's streaming it.
If not... if you go to justin.tv and just search for world junior it pops up someone that's playing the TSN stream.

LolBarbera got outplayed by two goalies with about 40+ games of experience between them. He would have been sent down through waivers, anyways, so its nice to see him get to go to another NHL team.

The only question is: does he stay up when Luongo returns?

Wait... Luongo who has won nothing in the NHL, paired with a 38 year old who also has won nothing, and not played half the season are the reason the Canucks will win the division?
That's as laughable as the headlines in The Province, Sun and Times-Communist nearly claiming a cup victory after winning Game 1 vs. Detroit a few years back...

Besides which, winning a division means nothing. Boston, NJ, Philadelphia, Washington, SJ, and Detroit could easily wipe the Canucks today, and would wager they'd likely do the same come April.

Start waving your white towel, and surrender.

I think this is the same situation from last year when the Kings traded Aubin to Anaheim - it's a failsafe for a couple of games of injury for the top tandem. It looks like Quick and Ersberg are both at least somewhat competent goaltenders, so hopefully the goalie carousel in LA is overwith. I might be a Ducks fan, but the Kings are mighty fun to watch right now.

It's on the NHL network if you get that.

The best bet, it this guy Link (new window) is to be believed, the best bet right now is Boston @ San Jose, with San Jose winning in six.

But then that is why we play the games isn't it.

While Cansucks is a lame joke, some Canucks fans in this thread are nearly as delusional as Leafs and Flames fans. If you really think all your team is missing on its way to the Cup is a 90-year-old Sundin, and that Luongo can steal enough games in the playoffs without (literally?) shiatting the bed, you are a fool.

Also, LaBarbera >> Sanford. He managed to win games in LA last year, so he's at least got some skill.

It's hard to take someone named 'Poop Dood' seriously.

I am loving the Canucks hate here, I just wonder why people seem to hate them

Dammit, I wanted the Canucks to suck miserably this year, so they can start rebuilding with some decent draft picks. Hodgson looks like he's going to pan out, but we need some young scorers in the mix.

Defense:
GAA so far this season:
Kings - 2.65
Canucks - 2.55
Shots allowed per game:
Kings - 26.1
Canucks - 29.1
PK:
Kings - 7th
Canucks - 13th
GF/Game:
Kings - 2.54
Cancuks - 2.87

Goalie stats:
LaBarbera: 5-9-4, 2.83GAA, .893SV%
Sanford: 7-6-0, 2.52GAA, .910SV%

So... I think Sanford's probably a bit better than LaBarbera... from what I've seen basically every LAK fan out there is happy to see him go.

Canucks are over-hyped on HNIC especially on Hot Stove.

Living in Vancouver, I have the displeasure of living among Canuck's fans. You guys really don't know very much about hockey at all and listening to you guys amazes me. It's sad because you guys have had some great players here.

The most puzzling thing I have ever heard is the countless number of Vancouverites who defended Cloutier as a capable goalie.

Regardless, the fans here make me vomit. I sometimes go to the games or watch them in bars or with friends and I am astounded how idiotic the comments I hear are.

Greenlighting a canucks thread is interesting. It feels like someone trolled for me and I get to sit around and watch as everyone gets their panties in a twist over the team. Overgeneralizations coupled with Canucks hate for everyone!

// Canucks fan all my life.

Displeasure? Vomiting? Boy, your life must suck - how about living elsewhere then, dumbass?

Spent most of 2006-07 watching LaBarbera play in Manchester; he was awesome in the AHL. It sucks that he hasn't taken off yet in the NHL. Maybe being home will change things.

The worst thing about being a Canucks fan is having to deal with the ex-pat TO fans who somehow think being in Vancouver is a punishment. Not saying you are a leafs fan, but sure as hell sounds like it. Bitter much?

cloutier was actually pretty good, but never someone who was going to do it in the playoffs.

If you take a look at Cloutier's stats year-after-year, they were pretty good as a Canuck. However, his career was pretty well over once Rob Neidermeyer wrecked his knee.

As for LaBarbera, well, we'll see what happens when he plays in a tighter defensive system

LaBarbera is butt. In case Sandman goes down, the 'Nucks and their $10 Million Dollar Boy won't be able to blame not making the playoffs on Schneider/goaltending. Cheap security pickup, but don't expect him to challange for a job anywhere, except the ECHL in 09/10.

7th round pick for a LaBandaid is not really worthy of a green.
He played really well in his Nuck debut though.

I'd say something about you knowing jack shiat about hockey, but you've already proven that time, and time, and time again in these threads.
