He hit his prime years ago. He should just retire and enjoy drinking martinis and screwing his wife.

Just one mans opinion.

Anyway, Jean-Claude van Damme ownz.

Sly proved you can be retarded and still go a long way.

2003-01-19 10:27:53 AM
Well, like it or not, Worldwide that's probabaly still true. The World's Top action stars are still pretty old. Other than salaries and movies still being made as a measuring stick, I don't know what else you'd use.

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sylvester Stallone
Harrison Ford
Bruce Willis
Jackie Chan
Sean Connery (yep, still)
Vin Diesel
Steve Seagal (still can make hits, surprisingly)
Kurt Russell (can still go, responsible for a lot of great action flicks)

Stallone is a simpering nancy-boy. Stephen Hawking could twat him with one hand tied to his wheelchair.

How's about rip roarin' Jet Lee, he's actually less understandable than Stallone...

Anybody see the porn flick Sly was in before Rockyizing the big screen?

2003-01-19 10:52:31 AM
Say what you want, the first half of that movie was great. Unfortunately the ending was cliched and generally awful.

2003-01-19 11:02:04 AM
Worst Stallone movie ever....

Obbop:
The original movie, entitled "A party at Kitty and Stud's" had the hardcore stuff cut and then repackaged as "The Italian Stallion". There's a segment at the beginning where a young lady tells of Stallone's rise to fame in "Rocky" and that the film was recut for "family viewing". There were trailers for other films at the beginning with hardcore scenes. I rented it once about 10 years ago; my finger was on the FF button for 90% of the movie.

Well that was completely useless...
Now...since someone already inserted the names of who my votes for, let me elaborate.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Always up there. Not the best as far as theatric mad skillz go, but as far as I'm concerned, Ahnold is number one.
With the exception of his few attempts at humour, (Except True Lies, which finally hit it right) his movies always involve blowing shiznit up, or beating up bad guys.
Or both.

Sylvester Stallone: The action could go on without him, and it will still be the same. He's an action star, but bottom of the food chain.

Harrison Ford: Action star for smarties.

Bruce Willis: Number one. This guy is the action hero for all time. He coined the timeless phrase "yipee-ki-ay, motherfukker."

Jackie Chan: His action stuff is superficial. I don't mean to say that his fist of fury skillz aren't real, but that's all there is to him. He doesn't defuse bombs, or simply blow up bad guys, he gets into outchopping sessions with them.
But, he *did* have Zhang Yi.

Sean Connery: He doesn't get as dirty. He's Bond, period.

Vin Diesel: Nevar. He's just a new pretty face hollywood can pimp to the same masses that like britney and christina. His acting skillz are null and void...all they do is stick him in a hot car, and now fling him out of a plane in it.
He reminds me of a certain FM nation episode, or the "True Life: I am a Street racer."

Steve Seagal: The American version of Van Damme. Pit them against each other until their heads just explode so we'll be free of them both.

Kurt Russell: His best action stuff was Big Trouble in Little Tokyo, and the Escape from New York crap. Maybe Tango and Cash, but none of those matter, I've seen him in all those cutsie Disney movies "Dad, can I borrow the car?" and the "Computer wore Tennis Shoes" and the like. When Ahnold started out, he had conan. For Sly it was rocky. Kurt has a fricking mouse with big ears as his inital claim to fame.

Negative.

All right, true story time.

The week after 9/11, I was getting my car fixed and the mechanic I went to had a TV/VCR in the waiting room and had popped in "Daylight." About a third of the way into the film, an old Korean woman came into the shop, saw what was on TV, and got this really worried look on her face. She came over to me and asked "Dis da news? Something else happen?" I calmed her down and explained that it was a movie and what had happened in the story thus far, and she sat down and started watching it. The scene she came in on was the one where Stallone is getting into the tunnel past the giant fans and I asked her "Do you know who that is?"

Her response was "Oh, ya! Dat Rambo. Dey send Rambo to save dem?"

Feh. As long as they didn't say Vin Diesel is the best....Then people would have to die

Dolph Lundgren

Firstblood was a good movie. It pressed on psychological issues a man has going from one system to another. War to 70's reality. In one system he was the best, but lost all his friends. In the other, he was finding he was nothing, and then men riducled him for that, they did not know his past. There are a great number of conflicts in the movie, and while it didn't poineer its genre... It sorta helped pioneer into the 80's action movie style.

2003-01-19 04:49:11 PM
YO! That picture of Dolph didn't need to be THAT big!

2003-01-19 05:14:10 PM
Permafrost: I somewhat disagree with your take on Vin Diesel. Although his recent roles have been as bland as they come he has done some good stuff. Most notably, Saving Private Ryan. Even though he died about halfway through the film, I thought he did a good job.

If he were to take a few acting lessons and pick a few roles that didn't glorify "x-treme" cars and pop music I think I'd be more apt to see his work.

As for Stallone: Assasins, Rocky I and II, and Cop Land are the only movies I enjoy seeing him in. All the rest are crap to me.

That picture of Dolph made banging my bishop easy & fun!
