You're honoring Christ's resurrection,
With ten percent tithes at collection.
The money transcends
Unto spiritual ends!
The chopper? No, there's no connection.

As I clicked this link, I noticed the ad for mormon.org to the side. For years and years, I gave 10% of my gross income to the mormons.

"In most residential areas, there is no question that the noise impacts of a heliport would be unacceptable," Olbrechts wrote. "However, most areas are not located next to a freeway."

I find the word "impact" very useful as it brands the user as a completely moron who isn't worthy of my time.

But remember kids, it's those god fearing conservative church goers that give the most to 'charity'.

All conservatives are minions of Satan, especially the religious ones.

Here's the thing: to most people, this is vulgar conspicuous consumption that dilutes, if not outright invalidates, the message this church wants to send.

To the members of this church, it's a sign that Lord Jeebus loves them and is blessing them with abundance. It's such a great scam these people have going.

I think just about anybody's ire would be raised with stuff like this. Megachurches and the shysters who run them should be shameful to anybody.

There's a church in a converted movie theater by my house and I have to pass it when I go to the store. Every time I go by I see a new Cadillac, Hummer, Benz or BMW in the "Pastor only" slot. The bus for the church is a beat up piece of shiat parked on the other side of the lot. I want to stick a note on the pastors car calling him out every time. One of these days I will.

darkyn: Nothing says "churches should be taxed" quite like a heliport.

I'd figure that the on-site helicopter is merely to be used in order to get him expediently and directly to the "corporate" jet, right?

If things were right, the parishoners of this church would see their diminishing retirement funds and stretched paychecks, then behold the heliport being built upon their church. This dichotomy would cause them to then vote with their wallet against this level of conspicuous consumption.

We even had guys at work who evangelizes about their atheism. It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

ugh, this is sickening. Even as an atheist I feel like marching into the building on a packed sunday morning, walking casually up to the podium, and reading aloud this verse.

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Matthew 6:24

Who can look at these glorified bastardizations of christianity and still feel they are a christian.

I think for a lot of atheists, it's a phase. It was for me. I deconverted, found "the truth", and wanted to share it with the people I cared about because it did me so much good. It was a lot like how born-again Christians proselytize (though I was never THAT pushy, I'd just be like "Hey guys I don't believe in God! It's great! Okay bye!").

That fire only lasted a few months, but I'm sure I annoyed the shiat out of my family.
