Coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz says the ninth body was found Friday morning in the gutted structure.

"And tell them what they win, Bruce Pardo."

"A new corpse!"

Pardo was, by many accounts, an unassuming, religious man, who tended to his garden and served regularly as an usher at evening Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montrose.

Damned fundamentalist papists. Religion of Peace™ indeed.

All this over 10k and a dog? He shot an 8 year old in the face on Christmas Eve over 10k. Can we say disturbed?

2008-12-26 02:35:00 PM
MAybe this tale would have had a different ending if the eight and 16 year olds could have fired back.

beirmaster: Can we say disturbed?

Well, it did say he was religious so the disturbed part is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

I've been divorced badly (lost more than 10k and a dog) and laid off (forcing an out-of-state move from my kid), so I not excusing this POS for murdering nine people and burning a house down.

2008-12-26 03:43:59 PM
FTA: Meanwhile, a car rented in Pardo's name was left in front of his brother's house in Sylmar loaded with 300 rounds of ammunition and a pipe bomb. All of that exploded when bomb squad technicians detonated an incendiary device in the vehicle, but no one was injured.

Idiots.

AirForceVet: I've been divorced badly (lost more than 10k and a dog) and laid off (forcing an out-of-state move from my kid), so I not excusing this POS for murdering nine people and burning a house down.

But if you hadn't been laid off and divorced, you would have excused him?

So have any bad-ass mofo radio blowhards called the party-goers cowards for not rushing the assailant?

"My friends, that eight year-old girl had a clear opportunity to headbutt the gunman's genitals, but the liberals are raising our kids to be mamby-pamby cowards..."

SockMonkeyHolocaust: MAybe this tale would have had a different ending if the eight and 16 year olds could have fired back.

Yeah, how can I be expected to be safe at a Christmas party if I'm not packing heat. Shiat, at my Christmas party, I have someone do sniper duty at the door. Nothing says "holiday cheer" more than seeing that little laser targeting spot on your heart.

This story makes me so sad.

Yeah, everyone using his "divorce proceedings" as the reason, well, it might have been some sort of "tipping point", but, fark, shooting an 8 year old girl in the face out of spite for your wife? You are just farking evil to the core.

He went suicide at the end, so, he had no respect for any life, let alone his own. It is unfortunate, but, there are just bad people in the world, and because of that, bad things happen. My boobies post on Fark was another one of these: Link. You can't go living your life in fear because of these things though. You just have to hope that your perception of people is good enough that you don't get involved with them in the first place (of course, the neighbors at this party were totally caught off guard).

I'm takin' the dog Frank!

OH NO YOU'RE NOT!

BLAMMO!

Seriously this is why I carry a weapon. Shoot at me and if I'm alive I'll fire back.

This is way better than the original and the Star Wars Holiday Special.

My overactive conspiracy-theorizing imagination wonders if the 8 year old was his former step-daughter who had something choice to say to him when she opened the door.

Everyone has a different breaking point - people have flipped out and killed people for much less than 10k and a lost family.

Goddamn you to Hell Mr. Pardo. Here's hoping that you spent the rest of Eternity being cornholed by an endless conga line of elephant-hung white-hot horned demons who have no other interest than to push the limits of your agony beyond the infinite.

2008-12-26 05:08:39 PM
In divorce proceedings, I understand why women get almost every penny, the kids, the cars, the houses, and every asset, save for the 35 cents the court awards the man so he can afford to call someone who gives a damn, but why, in the name of Gérard Xavier Marcel Depardieu, do the women always get the dogs?

The relationship and connection that women (think they) have with their children is the same connection between a man and his four legged best friend. You can have everything else, but for fark's sake, you can't have the dog. No wonder marriage rates are falling.

Oh, and we're sorry Mr. Pardo; I know that you lost your job, but that doesn't mean you get to stop paying your wife's alimony. After all, you guys were married for damn near two years; you just can't expect her to downgrade the lifestyle she had been used to for so long.

Sounds like a lot of bullshiat.

This guy was stuck with $1700/month alimony for 2 years of marriage.

A couple lawyers and a judge should get manslaughter charges.

Ok then. I'm sure the people he killed were Koreans. Do you have any idea how much money we give their country? Well neither do I. But I'm sure it's a lot.

I had to re-read the article because I couldn't believe that name was in there. Sounds like a good prank, sorta like the "I see's O.J." Howard Stern prank phone call. After all, the people in the article don't seem too bright, like the one detective:

One detective, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to news media, said they had found evidence inside that Pardo had prepared for the attack.

nice... a detective who isn't allowed to talk to the news media does so anyhow... that's some nice detective work there, lou.

Didn't RTFA, read some other ones. After he lost his job, they waived the maintenance. The ten grand and the dog was what she pretty much got, total. And how much about this divorce do you know to figure he should have shot the wife?
