I feel like an idiot, but that made me laugh.

How the hell did nobody crash into each other?

That was great.

At 1:10 into the video, I like how that little silver colored car just stalls and tries with all its little strength to get over that hill, lol that was funny to me.

2008-12-17 12:22:07 PM
actually 50 seconds into the vid

2008-12-17 12:26:20 PM
seems like most who tried the second time made it.

More on the way....roads are already icy out there. Nice video...looks like that road is meeting up with Macadam?

It's just too damn bad that many people in the North West decided to stay home today.

On Komonews.com , peoples comments are the ass holes who drive 10 MPH to 25MPH on the bare highway need to quit that. Drive a safe speed or take the bus. Cops fault for saying drive slow shiat. Slow don't mean blocking the traffic lane for 40 miles.

2008-12-17 12:43:11 PM
I like how optimistic some of the drivers are.

Optimism: It just makes your struggles funnier.

I did look at the :50 mark and that little car is hilarious...the driver just wasn't gonna give up.

Reminds me of the Sims for some reason.

2008-12-17 01:32:34 PM
I particularly enjoyed the 20 seconds starting at about 1:34 in which a white car tries several times to make it up, all the while being passed by numerous vehicles making it to the top with no trouble at all.

They don't use sand in Portland?

2008-12-17 01:43:13 PM
This isn't time lapse. It's simply played back at a faster speed than it was originally recorded.

/funny though

Danceswithwires: They don't use sand in Portland?

They do, but don't bother with most side streets. By the time they would get to a side street, it has typically melted.

Snowing again here in Portland...local news is going crazy.

Ugh, I don't need to watch this. The little white car looks like me every day trying to get away from my house.

Does it make me a bad person that I've considered creating a "Yakety Sax" channel on YouTube to put that music to a large number of videos?

Would you all subscribe?

Yes. Open with the shrimp on a treadmill.

Time lapse covers any filming where the initial speed is at one FPS and the playback is at another. It works both ways.

BubbaWilkins: Time lapse covers any filming where the initial speed is at one FPS and the playback is at another. It works both ways.

Well, 'time lapse' means playback is faster. Otherwise, it's 'slow motion'. But yeah, even shooting 24fps and playing back at 30fps would be time lapse.

There are streets like that in Reno NV that we'd go out to and just watch cars crash during snow storms.

It was cheap fun, a good way to get rid of a six pack and a jay, and instructional in the do's and don'ts of out-of-control driving.

We saw everyone crash, regular cars, taxis, cops. 4x4 didn't help, neither did chains. Once you break loose, the fun begins! It would be the same each time. Someone slides into parked cars or the guy behind him, comes to a stop, then gets out all pissed as hell...and instantly falls on their ass, which just pissed them off more. Yeah dude, that's ice!

/yes, we got some dirty looks :)

I want to see a sped-up, yakety-saxed version of the DEA agent who shot himself in the foot with a Glock .40.

2008-12-17 09:33:33 PM
I liked the one where they changed drivers. Oh, yes, been there and can only imagine the yelling. I does sound a lot like "Yakety Sax", too.

Check out the Chinese Fire Drill around 1:02.

Classic.

I counted 19 cars that were able to make it up the hill.

They started doing better as the day wore on and the temperatures came up.

/That pre-dawn ice is the friggin' worst.

Good thing it was a number lower than 21, so you could double check his count.

/Lower than 20 for the less intelligent Farkettes.

Portland has roughly 30 plows, and the residents have to deal with ice once or twice a decade, laugh as you will but we are just not equipped yo!

Doesn't anyone remember californians getting into dozens of accidents after like a half inch of rain?

/YOU: ice may have for me, BUT I : HABE RAIN FOR YOU HA

2008-12-18 01:52:17 PM
This would be much more amusing to me if it weren't for the fact that I was one of these idiots having to get up a hill on Pecos at
Warm Springs in Henderson, NV last night.
Yes, it looked just like this; Yes, someone in a Kia Rio slid down and hit my 4wd Audi Allroad.

I"m a mechanical engineering student, actually. I have a rudimentary knowledge of basic as it applies to micro-controllers. Funny thing is, when I was in first year, I was in fact tripped up by that exact bug.

2008-12-18 11:48:29 PM
Fascinating.

Did anybody notice that almost everybody who went around somebody else who was already stuck made it up? Is it less slippery on the left side? Or did they know to build some momentum seeing someone else sliding down the hill?
