If you can work in a pickup truck, that's a country music hit song.

Maybe he towed the mobile home around with it?

Until he got drunk at a honky-tonk bar because of his cheatin' wife, then he ran off the road and wrecked it? We're getting there.

That's a nice touch. I can almost hear the slide guitar punctuating the pathos.

Will that push it over to alt-country?

Maybe. I'm not up-to-date on my country music clichés, even though I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express, last night.

And he was killed on Friday

So he's got that going for him, which is nice.

I *do* have some good news, though...

... I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

I've played onstage at the Grizzly Rose before, so I'm getting a kick...

Put a country bar in the middle of a really crappy neighborhood. Then watch the fun!

Bands always stay at a nearby hotel, and there's stories of the crooks not even bothering to cut the locks on the band trailers, they just take a sawz-all and cut huge holes in the sides of the trailers and steal everything that way.

Hey, at least you've got guns to stop all this gun crime.

That poor dog. :-(

There once was a man who couldn't cry
He hadn't cried for years and for years
Napalm babies and the movie love story
For instance could not produce tears

As a child he had cried as all children will
Then at some point his tear ducts ran dry
Grew to be a man, the shiat hit the fan
Things got bad, but he couldn't cry

His dog was run over, his wife up and left him
After that he got sacked from his job
Lost his arm in the war, was laughed at by a whore
But still not a sniffle or sob

His novel was refused, his movie was panned
And his big Broadway show was a flop
He got sent off to jail; you guessed it: no bail
But still not a dribble or drop

In jail he was beaten, bullied and buggered
And made to make license plates
Water and bread was all he was fed
But not once did a tear stain his face

Doctors were called in, scientists, too
Theologians were last and practically least
They all agreed sure enough; this was no cream puff
But in fact an insensitive beast

He was taken from jail and placed in a place
For the insensitive and the insane
He played a lot of chess and made lots of friends
And he cried every time it would rain

Once it rained forty days and forty nights
And he cried and he cried and he cried and he cried
On the forty-first day, he passed away
He just dehydrated and died

He went up to heaven, located his dog
After that, he rejoined his arm
Down below all the critics took it all back
Cancer robbed the whore of her charm

His ex-wife died of stretch marks, his ex-employer went broke
The theologians were finally found out
Right down to the ground, the jail house burned down
And the earth suffered perpetual drought

This reminds me of a piece of advice given to me by my friend's father: "The amazing thing about life is that, no matter how bad it seems, it can always get worse."

what makes that amazing? was it humming the 1776 overture while eating 50 hot dogs and balancing the family checkbook?

otherwise its just pessimism 101

Wow, that's just sad. Poor guy.

2008-12-14 05:26:03 PM
On the contrary, to me it sounds as if his troubles are over.

Need to work in a train and a prison somewhere.

Lissa is my name: Wow, that's just sad. Poor guy.

On the bright side, he might have had life insurance.

And I thought my life sucked...

At that point, I think death would be a relief.

It definitely could have been worse for this guy. He could have re-married again.

If there's reincarnation, this guy better get a kickass next life. James Bond-level kickass.

2008-12-14 05:35:37 PM
And the moral of the story is: always have an off-site back-up.

I started a post describing all the cancer and financial-related crap which is currently terrifying me, but then the damn thing started running to two pages.

Email me if you need to know the whole litany. Or if you want to feel better about whatever is going on in your own life.

Life sucks then you die.
But there's still more to come.
The IRS will still find a way to go after him in the hitherafter.

2008-12-14 05:37:25 PM
Well, at least things can't get any worse.

2008-12-14 05:38:29 PM
Then Friday at 10:50 p.m., Minnick and another guard went to check out intruders in the parking lot behind the Grizzly Rose, 5450 Valley Highway, said Adams County sheriff's spokeswoman Candi Baker.

Seriously? This is her name? Boy howdy this story does indeed have it all!

You never know. His coffin might fall out of the hearse and get run over by an 18-wheeler.

There's a song in there ... someplace ...

I bet he drafted Tom Brady 1st round in all of this fantasy leagues.
