This is the type headline I come to Fark for.

/the Truman/Dewey reference.
//not the boy sex part, you sick farks.

2008-12-12 07:25:28 AM
This headline reminds me of a funny story about the presidential election of 1948. You see, what happened is everybody thought that Thomas Dewey was going to win, and a newspaper actually printed up a copy declaring "Dewey Defeats Truman!" Lo and behold, Harry Truman actually won! Ironic!

I think there's a photo somewhere of Truman holding the newspaper. If you look hard you might be able to find it.

Excellent freakin' headline.

Snakeophelia: Now THAT is what a pun should be. How many young farkers are going to have to Google "Truman and Dewey" to get it?

Err--I think this is a case where the Dewey Defeats Truman bit is so popular that every reasonable age group should get it. I think I remember seeing it as early as 5th grade, and I'm 23 now. How young are you talking, because I'd be surprised if late high schoolers don't get it.

2008-12-12 08:35:42 AM
That title, subby, just won yourself an Aunt Gert. ^_^
