Lwaxana Troi.

Better than Bea Arthur.

/Yeah, I went there.

Good, it wouldn't be the Enterprise otherwise.

I'll take it.

Awesome.

They probably have enough archival recordings on file to keep Majel as the voice of Enterprise for years to come.

So keep her and dump Nimoy. I like Nimoy, but tying the new old with the old old was a stupid idea. That might not be the only stupid idea I'll think they had after the rips hit the net.

/not giving Abrams a dime.

Can't be as good as The New Voyages (they've had quite a number of folks from the old series and movies)

That news just added a mark on the WIN column for this movie. Still unsure whether that will negate the other marks in the FAIL column.

I agree, with geek bonus points on top

Cool!
I might actually go see this movie. I was not at ALL excited by the prospect when I heard they were making it, but that trailer looks pretty farking good. So long as JJ gets the whole Star Trek optimistic utopian society thing, I'll be happy.

2008-12-11 07:18:50 PM
why the surprise? she is the voice of the computer

2008-12-11 07:34:02 PM
So they finally got something related to TOS correct.

Not really, never saw the shows or the movies, kinda interested in the new one though. Being a Lost fan, I figured I'd give it a shot

If that's true, it would be interesting to get your take on the film once it comes out, sort of as a different perspective on Trek and an impartial review of sorts. There's a large contingent of Trek "fans" ready to burn Abrams in effigy already over a couple of trailers and some pictures alone. Slamming a movie before it's even seen by anyone is a cottage industry of sorts in these parts.

/looking forward to it myself

TOS:

The Original Series, to save you time from geeks asking stupid questions. That would be the late 60s version with Shatner & Nimoy

I am serious about never watching the earlier ones. Hell, I've never watched an entire Star Wars movie either. Never was my cup of tea. I will give this one a watch though. I will post my thoughts in the inevitable "omg they turned Star Trek into Lost!" thread. :)

reverbblue: Hell, I've never watched an entire Star Wars movie

I thought I was the only one!

Loved me some original series Trek, though: I was just barely old enough to watch it in the first run. Now I still love it for the campy in-jokes, and some pretty good plots too. You'd be surprised at some of the names that turn up in the writing credits. Larry Niven, for one.

For those of you not familiar with the abbreviation from the original series, I'll clear it up. The full title was "Star Track: The Outer Space."
