McDonalds is our kind of place,
they feed you rattle snakes.
Put frenchfries up your nose.
Stick pickles 'tween your toes.

What I came here to say.

Of course, back then the fries were cooked with yummy lard. Ever since, they've been just trying to be that good.

Shameful how far fast-food has fallen. Those burgers not only look edible but probably were better for you than the meat-like products sold by McDonalds today.

Krusty-Burger was less of a parody than most people think.

Say what you want about McD's, the Chicken Select strips they sell are VERY good.

IMO,

Hardee's has the best burger (Thick Burger) followed by Burger King.

McDonalds has the best fries

Burger King makes pretty good onion rings.

What I find to be funniest is in 40 years they went from making commercials specifically directed at white people, to commercials specifically directed at Black and Latino communities. Have you see the one where the guy sings the R&B song about chicken nuggets. Am I the only one who thinks McDonalds commercials are border line offensive. Everytime I see a Mcds commercial with Latinos, I half expect them to say Eh Vato, have it your way ese.

Not related, but my parent's neighbor is the former owner of a major American meat supplier. He was I think Wendy's or Hardee's largest supplier in that particular area of the States. Anyway, he used to tell me all these tricks they'd use to cheat them out of money.

Ground beef can only have so much water in it as regulated by state law, so he bought industrial sized ice makers and put chunks of ice into the beef because it was frozen and somehow didn't fall under the regulation I guess. It allowed him to sell them a pound of beef that was in reality more like .9 or .85 lbs.

All kinds of weird (and probably illegal) crap he used to tell me.

Came here to say the fries were real back then. I want a Robbie's hamburger now. Fast food restaurants were called "drive ins" back in day and your food was served by a high school girl in a short, short skirt. Mmmmmmm!

They were still good when they switched over to vegetable oil because they used beef tallow in the fryalator. Once they took the beef tallow out, everything went downhill.

Even better, their commercial with a middle-aged guy coming up to the counter, checking his pockets and finding only a crumpled dollar bill. He hands it to the employee and she gives him back a hamburger, small fry, and small drink AND change! The message was get a whole meal and change back from your dollar.

Also, I'm kinda fond on the kid feeding french fries to the squirrels in the park.

McDonald's burgers are still 100% beef with no fillers. They're not like, super-special "Angus" like everyone else is on the bandwagon for, but they're not some weird pseudomeat.

And really, I don't think their meat is that bad. What I don't like is the scant other toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc)

Those smarmy admen at McDoh's! I remember that as well, they started out with an actual number in the millions, then a number in the hundreds of millions. I think in the late 70's, they just went with "Millions & Millions" then bumped it up to billions later on.

The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan is a fascinating book that details the changing eating habits of Americans. I can't recommend it highly enough. It explains how, over the last 30 years, we have become a nation that eats vast quantities of corn much more so than Mexicans, the original "corn people."

Most folks assume that a chicken nugget is just a piece of fried chicken, right? Wrong! Did you know, for example, that a McDonald's Chicken McNugget is 56% corn?

I don't really like McDonald's. But I have 3 small kids, so sometimes I'll indulge them. The only thing that's edible on their menu is the Big Mac IMO.

Around here my favorite fast food burgers are: Culver's, Five Guy's and Hardee's thickburger.

I used to like Wendy's and BK, but can't stand them anymore. I'm especially pissed that Wendy's fries suck now when they used to be the best.

Hey, just checking up on you. It's been a few hours since you shoved that thing down your gullet. More than likely, there's a large globual of delicious bacon grease lodging itself in your left ventricle right this very second.

If you want to be safe, you should get some beer into your system immediately.

Be safe bacon lover.

God speed.
