No apostrophe, subby.

But, all the same, the Durst solo they listed truly is horrible.

Misfits - We are 138 was the first guitar solo I could ever play... it's not hard to see why, a complete novice can play it. still like the song though.

Southern Man - Neil Young

Great song, TERRIBLE guitar solo.

That is all.

/although I'm sure there is more.

Slaxl: Misfits - We are 138 was the first guitar solo I could ever play... it's not hard to see why, a complete novice can play it. still like the song though.

Never heard Neil Young's CINNAMON GIRL?

... which incidentally is one of the best solos (soloes?) there is. One note; plays the Hades out of it

Is it just me, or are the videos farked?

Wait, no "Rage Against The Machine desperately trying to make a guitar sound like a DJ scratching and it ends up just coming out nasty?"

2008-12-09 02:40:40 PM
They forgot 'Cult of Personality' by Living Colour. I love the band, and the main riff is really good. That being said, that solo is a goddamn mess.

You do not need the apostrophe to form the plural

Wow, I'm amazed that I was beaten to the punch. The 138 solo is amazingly simple, yet it still sounds good in the song. I tried playing it a few years ago and did fine after playing guitar for 2 weeks. I was stunned that Doyle managed to mess it up on the Static Age studio sessions on the box set though. I can't see how it's physically possible for a practiced guitarist to mess that solo up, considering he did some pretty decent, albeit 80s sounding, solos for Kryst the Conqueror

Include: anything by Blues Traveler, anything by Jimmie Vaughan.

2008-12-09 02:43:05 PM
Oh, I missed the second page of the article where they had We Are 138, so I'm not that surprised that you mentioned it. Still, it was the first solo that popped into my mind when I read the headline.

2008-12-09 02:43:17 PM
Slaxl

I'm in a band that plays that song and we SKIP the solo because it's so useless.

/in fact I had to go back and listen to see what you were talking about.

2008-12-09 02:43:20 PM
Morello is at least original, definitely better than the 10 listed here. And I totally agree with the Durst solo being #1 I remember wanting to vomit out of my ears the first time I heard that.

2008-12-09 02:43:21 PM
You forgot about this guy. He Should be at number 1 only because he thinks he can actually play.

well before i clicked i thought of "Banquet" by Bloc Party. Man, I love that song, but once it gets to that last 15-20 seconds--where the solo comes in--i just have to turn it off. It's too damn whiney! Like this post!

/Bah!

I'm pretty sure that the first time I picked up a guitar I played something cooler than that Fred Durst mess.

2008-12-09 02:44:53 PM
We Are 138 - I mean, over half that song is just repeating that phrase, or just shouting 8 over and over again. It's an awesome tune, I love The Misfits but it's not really a song you're looking for a blistering solo in, you know?

2008-12-09 02:44:54 PM
The Joker - Steve Miller Band.

I nominate Spike as the all time worst list-whore on Fark. It offends in every possible way.

2008-12-09 02:45:12 PM
What the f*ck was that by Fred Durst? An interpretation of a pissed off armadillo with indigestion?

Has anyone said anything about the apostrophe yet?

2008-12-09 02:46:12 PM
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name

A powerful amazing song ruined by an awkwardly shoehorned-in solo that sounds like a vocoder thrown into a box of feral cats. True crap.

Wow lots of Neil Young hate.

Sublime with "what I got" reprise.

Then again I knew to take Brad Nowell for a fool when he sang "I can play the guitar like a mother farking riot"

2008-12-09 02:47:28 PM
And no mention of "The Cover of Rolling Stone"? For shame.

I'm right there with you on Rage's (hope I used that apostrophe correctly :| )guitar sounds sucking. Strangely enough, I enjoyed the toned down version of it with Audioslave.

Hoblit: Southern Man - Neil Young

Great song, TERRIBLE guitar solo.

I love that guitar solo. It's not the notes you play, it's how to play 'em. It fit the song perfectly.
