You guys sure are biatchy about shiat that doesn't affect you one bit.

Also, I've never been at a loss as to where the nearest nummy Tex-Mex restaurant is.

New to posting, so I just started checking profiles. I never knew how many of you farkers were right around me. Kind cool, but kinda scary at the same time (just f'ing around, y'all cool). Shout outs to Di Atribe in Denton (went to UNT) and Telosphilos (I live in Little Elm).

telosphilos: If he had more class and older money, I'd expect him to live in Dallas. Believe it or not you can really tell the difference.

Plano is full of the neauvuex riche to use an old and likely mispelt term. There are reasonable middle class areas, but there is a lot of keeping up with the Jones' as well which I really don't care for in Plano. It's a good thing his girls are already out of the house. Plano has one hell of a drug problem in the high schools.

East Sayeeeed!
When I grew up there, it was already an expensive place and the school was decent... but also there was nothing to do there. I understand why kids got on the heroin and suicide. We were like the teen suicide capitol of the nation in 1983, which puts it pretty high in the running for 1983 World Teen Suicide Capitol. We had the local funeral director come to the school to speak and tell us to please stop off'ing ourselves. Which is kind of a conflict of interest there.

Either I was a sheltered kid or had blinders on. Didn't see anything of the heroin or suicide when I was there. Just that the things a kid was supposed to do was go to the mall and hang out under the streetlight. Didn't care for any of this.

It is time for those who hate Bush to move on and use those brain cells for something productive.

Amen. You'd think they'd get some medication for that Bush Derangement Syndrome. History will prove that George W. did A LOT of things right--like keeping us safe; unlike Obama, who's going to drop this country in the crapper. I guess he'll go back to the 'hood after he's run out of office.

Been in Texas 26 years (Houston, sadly).

Texas cities I love, in order:
Corpus
Ft. Worth (reminds of my hometown, New Haven)
Austin

Acceptable:
San Antonio
Dallas
Lufkin

Teh suck:
Houston
El Peso

TX,TN,FL,NV,WY,AK, and I think maybe NH are the no state income tax states. If you was a rich asshat that had a bunch of millions coming in from oil stocks and Haliburton, you'd want to live in one of them.

MrTwist: Dallas sucks. Born and raised. I'm glad I got the fark out.

And by the way, Dallas County voted for Senator Barack Obama. Ironic, huh?

Inner city, large black and hispanic population. The worst school district in Texas ( at least ).

I don't see the irony. Sounds ripe for an Obama vote.

filth: BobtheFascist: Is housing in Dallas still cheap? If so, that palace probably cost about as much as Obama's pad in Chi-town.

$200-$350/sq. ft. in that general vicinity.

Preston Hollow is a high end neighborhood. You can buy nice newer homes in the $100 Sq Ft and up price range. The Dallas area has to be one of the lowest housing costs in the country.

TexasRedbud: I don't see the irony. Sounds ripe for an Obama vote.

Let's see, when the Republican "revolution" hit Texas, Dallas County went red and had been red ever since. That is until Dallas went blue in '06. Let me guess, the Democrats had 2 whole years to fix all the problems and they didn't so they suck, amirite or amirite?

You think you are getting anything in that area for a $100 a sq. ft? That's hilarious. I'm not sure you have any idea what you are talking about. Ha, just kidding. I know you don't have a clue.

I live in Alabama presently and look forward to leaving someday.

As for Texas, I'll take Austin and the Central Highlands any day over the rest of
the state.

I dislike Dallas and its 'burbs. Austin is nice, as is the hill country.

You should give Fort Worth a shot, though.

When you talk about cities in Texas, Fort Worth will come up as a great place because it is the most 'Texas' of the big cities.
Dallas has a very low cost of living and a great job market. With that as a foundation, you can build yourself a good life here.

All the imports in Dallas make it feel less like Texas. There are a lot of rude newcomers that do not know how to act.

If I could find a job in small town Texas, I would move there in a heartbeat. Though I will admit it it not for everyone. The only thing to do in small town Texas is to make friends and spend time with them. It is a slower pace of life.

Yes I see your point. I made the mistake of putting two sentances together. I see how it confused you. Let me elaborate.

You really should read comments in context. My first sentence. ' Preston Hollow is a high end neighborhood.' Was in response to the statement that Preston Hollow homes go for 200-300/sqFt. I then suggested that there were other areas where homes went for $100/SqqFt. You really should make more of an effort to read what people write. BLog comments tend to be brief. You should read slower.

But that's OK, you can just keep up the oh so witty(sp) comments.

There used to be some great dive bars downtown. They've all been pretty much pushed out. 8.0's during the summer is great though. The best part was it was a great mix of people, not just cowboys or TCU kids or yuppies.

Another metroplexian. I drive to downtown Ft. Worth everyday (or take the TRE train if the weather is good). I go to law school at Texas Wesleyan University right next to the convention center and water gardens (in the former IRS building).

Submitter sucks!

My parents and their friends almost built houses there 40 years ago; the developer wouldn't sell them the land because he wanted only rich people to live there, in houses he built. So PH was designed from the start to be full of obnoxious, wealthy fools. What's a couple more?

2008-12-05 10:29:14 AM
I still have my house in McKinney. Born and raised Texan (Want the F**k you I'm from Texas shirt!) and living in San Diego. If it wasn't for the weather, lack of giant cockroaches (aka Palmetto Bugs), trails, mountains and ocean, I'd be moving back.

The people in San Diego are the rudest, conceited, self-absorbed, hating and selfish people I have ever known. And this is the most conservative part of California; I'd really hate to go anywhere else in this damn place.

Texas rocks for the people alone, but my job won't let me work from there. When you're recruited at twice the salary and paid to move to a great vacation spot, you pretty much go.

Why are we still talking about Plano? I've seen threadjacking, but it is usually about something at least a Little Interesting and/or provocative.
