Who thinks it's new? It's a throwback, it's very old-fashioned.

yeah, really. football fans know that already.

i predict the veer option hits the NFL soon. plenty of teams have former college QBs who converted to other positions for the pros

If you thought the so-called "wildcat" was new, you need a history lesson.

This...

It just wasn't very useful in the NFL, and once defensive coordinators wrap there heads around it in the offseason, it will be a myth with the nfl, again, like the wishbone...

I still wonder how Kurt Warner finds the time to play football and have sex with all those men in public bathrooms

I think the uncommon formations have a place in the playbook, but you're right. The "wildcat" (or Carlisle, as older Farkers call it) just doesn't transfer well to the NFL once defenses start to expect it. However, for a change of pace it is fine, like when a team tosses an option play into the mix (although I've never seen a veer)

Is it too early to bring back the wishbone?

This is weird, I google'd "double quarterback offense" about 2 hours ago in boredom and the wikipedia article talking about pop warner inventing a formation was the first result.

Foaming: Is it too early to bring back the wishbone?

I remember the Colts ran it when they brought in Eric Dickerson. As I was in High School at time, and played half back, I thought it was cool. But I watched defenses eat it up. I was saddened to see it had no place in the NFL.

And if players actually played their positions, this formation wouldn't cause so much frustration. My coach was scream at us if we tried to play outside of our position. "Stay home! Stay home!" he'd yell.

Just look at how successful it was against the Patriots the first time. Then how much it failed the second time.
