While of course I feel they should have done something to pre-empt the attack, remember that we knew about 9/11 for a good month or two beforehand.

I'm confident that it's only a matter of time before photos of the Indian Prime Minister emerge, taken right at the beginning of the attacks, in which he is reading a copy of My Pet Marwari to a small gathering of schoolchildren.

Loled at headline. Nice work Subby.

I wouldn't be surprised. Bureaucracy is one of India's biggest imports from the west. They've made an art out of it.

This would be cause for serious punishment if there was valid information in this warning..... but it was probably bereft of vital information, like when, where, why and how. A phone call or written threat or intercepted communications frequently are vague.....

"There's going to be an attack in the next 2 weeks on some tourists!"

How does one respond?

Will terrorists attack the tourists and will they be on the terrace at the time?

Obviously you need that magic software they have on 24.

"Attacks on tourists"
"Operatives in Mumbai"
"Shipment of weapons"

See, how hard was that?

(say OK as I frantically close all of my IM windows where I biatch about our tech support, then watch as he moves through all of my help windows - as though I couldn't do that my damned self)

"I will have to open a ticket for this matter. Thank you for calling."

/I friggin hate our tech support.
//We used to have to wait a half hour to get someone on the phone, but at least then we could understand them and they could do something more than look through the help menus.

Because we always do it right, right? That's why we managed to stop 9/11 ( White House Briefings on Aug 6 2001 (new window) ) and it's also why the neat color coded danger level system has successfully predicted attacks, amirite?

same at my job. Fortunately im computer literate, so I dont really need them for tech support, but apparantly they suck at doing everything else too.

I keep forgetting if I should laugh at people availing tech support or people giving tech support. Seems like there is tech support only because tech support is needed by morans bigger than tech support.

CNN linked to an Indian news station for coverage this weekend... during the explosions it was so loud the Indian reporter couldn't hear what was coming through her headset. She said "Thank you, come again?" God help me I laughed.

What happened to the t-shirt option for the headlines?
