Who the hell is Caylee Anthony and why should I care about he/she?

These days CNN Headline News channel is just the Caylee channel. Every time I flip past it they seem to be focusing on it.

2008-11-27 02:32:12 AM
I admire some folks' ability to avoid annoying media obsessions. They seem to catch me by sandwiching this crap between stories I think are worthwhile.

Obviously missing kids should be found and murderers (if that's what happened) should be brought to justice, but why this kid is more deserving of attention others, I don't know.

Do you guys know who Natalee Holloway is/was? I envy people who don't.

i think what really got it into the frenzy were the "scandalous" picture of the mother partying in a nightclub or whatever. This allows so many people to get on their moral high horse and feel good about themselves.

Also, there's nearly always an obsession with mothers that kill their children, as this one appears to have done. Most people can't fathom doing such a thing, so it's sort of the ultimate taboo.

And besides... this kid is/was super-cute.

My wonderful ignorance-derived bliss comes from not watching television news very often.* By the way, Fox news is still tap-dancing on her corpse - I found that out by turning it one just a night ago, and turning it off as soon as I heard her name.

*They wonder why people are flocking to the internet for news...

P.S. She's super-cute... and therefore more valuable than other kids.

oh I can think of more ultimate taboos.
like the mother raping the kid first then killing it.

yeah that's how my mind rolls, biatches, don't hate

I'm detecting sarcasm, which is odd. But then again, I don't know many other people who have had to survive on selling ugly kids. I survived on ramen and was limited to what the rabbit ears picked up for tv. I'll never go back to that life.

Wow...I was actually unaware of that. I do know she was "missing" for a while (coupla months?) and then it was her grandma that called the cops. That's about all I know for sure.

hershmire: My wonderful ignorance-derived bliss comes from not watching television news very often.

Yeah. Thank FSM for the internets. I still throw on the teevee when doing chores, cooking dinner, etc.

That's how they get ya!

Funnily, CNN did another story on people's fascination with moms that kill their kids.

In the story featured here, a woman slit both her sons' throats but one forgot to die and ratted her out.

FTA: The boy said his mother started with him, taking him from the van before covering his eyes, ears and mouth with duct tape, according to the affidavit. Then, he told police, she cut his throat.

She then moved on to his younger brother, he said. He could hear his brother's cries as she repeated the attack on him, the 7-year-old told police.

As if that kid will ever be right again...

Oh, and what I came in here to ask...

Does anyone else have an elderly relative who watches over 4 hours of CNN per day? Not to give Orwell a handjob here, but that is some disgusting, scary shiat. Toyota, give me my opinions! Vagisil, make me a better person! Holy farking hell my pops-in-law, a decent guy, has full-blown senior Aids. He watches CNN all his waking hours. Fark. You know? Fark.

Meanwhile Mumbai reels after a well-coordinated terror attack killing dozens of people. The newspapers are blaring something about another $800 billion to goose banks into making loans again. The nation prepares to embark on a four-day weekend, the President-Elect is assembling his governing team, the market rose 9% this week (in three days) and Black Friday is 22 hours, 5 minutes away.

Of course, nothing important has happened in the last 24 hours, nothing important will happen in the next 24 hours, so why not talk about child murder for the Thanksgiving holiday?

The grabbing hands grab all they can. Everything counts in large amounts.

In a big country dreams stay with you, like a lover's voice across a mountainside.

Isn't it Thanksgiving in Kentucky? Couldn't they let us feast?

It's CNN's way of helping parents realize they should be thankful that their little precious isn't being cornholed by the creepy guy in the apartment building, mere minutes before he tosses her ravaged corpse in a dumpster off I-95. Y'know, getting into the true spirit of the holiday.

Since I don't have a TV, I've never seen Ms. Grace in action, but from still shots and audio clips, I can say that I hate her too.

Hit it with a 2 x 4 with nails, over and over again.

CNN was actually feeding CNN International while covering the Mumbai incident, after all it's shows were over. I was kind of amazed there was a sense of journalistic integrity/lack of retard fodder.

So for the jury pool, they should select only Fark.com users, who are apparently the only large group of Americans who haven't already been influenced by the ridiculous amount of TV news coverage.

southaustin: P.S. She's super-cute... and therefore more valuable than other kids.

Duh. She'd probably fetch two, maybe even three times market value at auction. Unless the allegations are true and the mother didn't leave her in near mint condition; that could definitely hurt the resale value.

/Don't need a ticket if you're already in Hell.
