As the guests file in I would suggest the Welsh lullabye "Suo Gan"... which has nothing to do with weddings but sounds great anyways.

For our first dance, my wife and I did Lou Rawls' version of "At Last". Classy.

Depending on the tone of the wedding you could always do "Highway to hell" (just kidding) Ive always liked the sound of the irish song "field of anthenry" (sp?) but i dont think it has anything to do with weddings.

Or alternately, try Black Sabbath's Sabbra Cadabra. Probably less classy than KazamaSmoker's song, but hey.
2003-01-11 09:06:22 PM
We plan to dance to Extreme's "More than words". But that's my personal fave. Not sure if it has the same effect on other people.
2003-01-11 09:29:50 PM
We danced to Nat King Cole's L-O-V-E. It was a bit too fast paced, all told. It was still really nice, though.
2003-01-11 09:53:56 PM
Why in the world would you want these morons to give you any suggestions
2003-01-11 10:04:17 PM
Dave Mason's "We Just Disagree".
2003-01-11 10:34:29 PM

Dizzy by Tommy Roe was ours. I think it was at least.

Some friends of mine had "What A Wonderful World" played by some Hawaiian guy on uke that was amazing. Seriously tear-jerking. It was on a movie soundtrack somewhere, but I forgot the guy's name. I think his name was somewhat jewish sounding like "Israel" or something.

No, I'm not making this up!

They also played a "Magnetic Fields" song from 69 Love Songs, but I forget which one.

My cousin stole my copy!

Why Don't We Get Drunk (And Screw) - Jimmy Buffet

Wedding song, pick-up song, it's an all-purpose tune.

It's a nice day for a White Wedding Billy Idol

A friend of mine is insisting on playing some raver crap from "The Matrix" soundtrack as she marches down the aisle. The general consensus among those of us who know her best is that she's crazy.

Personally, I always thought "Stairway to Heaven" would make a decent wedding song.

Congrats to you both!
2003-01-11 11:29:40 PM
How 'bout 'Sanitarium' for the Groom? Or 'My Friend of Misery' for the Bride? Both by Metallica.

Or you could just play 'Thong Song' followed various Techo.

Anyway, good luck, you got a 50% of this working out.

Real suggestion, IF you're into Satch:

"Always With Me, Always With You". Joe Satriani, album "Surfing with the Alien"

It's a waltz. Really. My wife and I have danced to it.

Some romantic songs that come to mind are:
"In My Life" by The Beatles
"The Wonder of You" by Elvis

Congrats you two!

As I currently enjoy a raucous, enlightening marriage, I'd like to suggest

1. Summer Babe by Pavement

Saw my betrothed in a bikini and it was the first song that came to mind, and it still is. May the hotness be new forever.
2003-01-12 03:27:21 AM
How about "Stick it Out" by Frank Zappa.

"fark me you ugly son of a biatch."

There is even a german version if you prefer more efficient sex.
2003-01-12 03:28:12 AM
"Free Bird"
2003-01-12 03:28:47 AM
The only three songs you will ever need (every other song in the history of music is worthless and an abomination):

1. Scatman by Scatman John.
2. Move It Like This by The Baha Men.
3. Staying Alive by The Bee Gees.
2003-01-12 03:29:47 AM
god i hope he's kidding...
2003-01-12 03:29:48 AM
"Why Me Lord" --Kris Kristofferson

P.S. Congrats !!
2003-01-12 03:30:23 AM
"The Misfits "We are 138", or "Saturday Night". They're perfect."

NO! "Last Caress" is THE wedding song.
2003-01-12 03:30:36 AM

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, and yeah, that's a great song.
2003-01-12 03:31:26 AM
As an actual serious suggestion, I'd go with
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters by Elton John
Tiny Dancer also by Elton John

I don't know. Those are my only suggestions. And now everyone's going to think I'm some kind of crazed Elton John maniac. I'm not.
2003-01-12 03:31:47 AM
"Goo Goo Muck" The Cramps.
"Gigantic" The Pixies. (A Big Big Love)
