Kinda ho-hum until it hits 5:28, then it does indeed warrant an unprompted "holy shiat!"

I wonder if the old cook came on deck and told everyone it's too rough to feed them....

2008-11-20 01:36:54 PM
At that point, I'd be working my way towards the bottom of the boat.

There's got to be a morning after...

That old guy at 6:48 who stopped and helped other people while everyone else just ran off gets one of these:

Jeez - and I thought the 20 foot seas on my last cruise were bad...

Heh holy crap. The end especially made my jaw drop, where there's that guy sliding along on the floor next to what appears to be some very farking huge and very heavy things. Jeezus.

Huh?

Everyone just left. And a middle aged guy approached the corner table with his wife and told them all to leave as well. Then they left.

Yep, heeeeerooooo

Schadenfreude ist die schoenste Freude: Everyone just left. And a middle aged guy approached the corner table with his wife and told them all to leave as well. Then they left.

Guy looked old like he was about 70 and it also looked like he stopped to ask the guy who was on the floor clutching at the chair if he was ok.

I guess he didn't really need to do that and should have just shuffled off.
My bad

I thought I missed something and rewatched it. Seems like everyone was trying to help/convince everyone to GTFO. Which they should have done to begin with. I just thought hero was a bit of a stretch.

But I mean really, who the hell would stay in there if they feared for their life?

I would stay because I think it would be awesome, but that's not the point.

Well, contrast him to the people that just ran by. You'll never be a hero as long as you put your own ass first, and this guy showed he has what it takes.

It's a lot funnier if you assume it's a Taco Bell at the local mall.

/but seriously, what the hell kind of cruise boat has loose fixtures larger than a chair?

I love the peppermill that just keeps rolling around the floor in the middle of the screen the whole time, getting kicked around and ignored.

For anyone who's curious what the same kind of turmoil looks like from the OUTSIDE of the boat, here's a piece of footage that shows why everything was sliding around so violently.

2008-11-20 02:42:11 PM
Skip to the 1:30 mark, and watch. Then after the first wave of crap slides across the floor, skip to the five minute even mark. That's when it starts getting good.

No way it's a real candle - fire and cruise ships are often mutually exclusive.

News footage from other, less stable rooms on the ship (new window) - great sadness at 1:00 listening to a lil' kid crying for his/her mom.

He stuck around when the rest ran by, I would guess retired Navy.

My vomit would have been flying around that ship.

aren't they supposed to strap heavy sh*t down on boats?

2008-11-20 04:36:45 PM
Yea I thought there was some preventitive measures in place for such an event. Well that must have sucked to clean up. Although I guess all the debris may have slid to one side of the room.

2008-11-20 04:42:38 PM
Maybe they should nail the chairs down instead of using wheels.

2008-11-20 04:51:27 PM
That looked like fun....
It's a freaking boat for shiats sake. You have to expect some rough seas that the automated systems can't account for.
There was a cruise ship coming or going to Vancouver BC. It's automated system decided to do a sudden left turn. Leaned the boat waaaaay over.

I love the fact that there's a table wayyy in the back that doesn't budge for most of the video.

"I paid for this meal, and, dammit, I'm gonna finish it!"

Hah! I thought the same thing about the peppermill:) "Someone's going to get hurt!" Then a huge cabinet came out of nowhere and took out a server.

And holy f'n shiat with that video of the outside of the boat! Crimony!! I'm never getting on a freaking cruise ship. But how did the helicopter stay so steady?

Seeing the guy slide along with the debris right at 6:00 made me spit out my drink on the keyboard. HAHAHAHAH.

It sounds like a tractor trailer full of band equipment took a highway exit too fast and flipped 20 times.

When the big stuff started sliding all over the place, I thought, "woah". But then I realized that if that big stuff went ONE way, it's sure as hell going to come back again. Not fun. Not at all.

I went on a cruise with a couple of friends and there was a 'talent show' one night. My friend did some slacklining across the stage. Slacklining is hard enough to do on steady ground, so the fact that he did it on a swaying ship was hugely impressive.

No. He didn't win the talent show.

Jerks.

I thought it was candle at first but it didn't catch the cloth on fire in the first ten seconds so I figured it was a battery powered led fake candle.

The ride looked like fun to me.but I have a weird sense of fun sometimes.

T. Boone just called. He wants to know what powers the waves.
